Love your optimism,  We are as good as anyside in this finals race, Now I think whoever wins Thursday will win the last one.  So its all out there as I see it.  No holding back. And I think we have been hiding our ability a bit.

While I do not like the wet weather, we have time to prepare for it and the Colliwobbles have to play it it as well. So their  plans are stuffed.  just as much as ours might be,  Go Dees onto the flag..

Concur... winner of thursday wins.....it 😉

Yeah nah, can’t see the Club signing off on that. Waaaay too inflammatory for the delicate sensibilities of your average Dees supporter. “Be afraid, be very afraid”  (last week’s banner) is about as menacing as we’d get. Cut to 8pm tonight and I’m posting sneak peeks of this week’s banner which says “And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead” 🤣

*That’s the name of a band so there’d be copyright issues, for one.

In that case can you put a giant pair of sunglasses on the reverse side?

Anyone catch Craig McRae on Sen this afternoon on the run home ?

It's 32 minutes can't bring myself to listen to it but wouldn't mind a summation

I haven't listened to it, but I'll have a go:

Everything we've done, we've done to qualify. We've achieved that and we start again.

Geez, you wouldn't want to be anywhere else than Melbourne in spring.

Nick was desperate to play, and might have if this was an elimination game

No, no,  no reason to be anything but positive.

This is the most bizarre stat…

collingwood haven’t played in the rain in any of their 23 games this year.

Melbourne have played 6 games in the wet.

How can a side go all year and avoid the rain?

in any case, Thursday night might be the first time all year collingwood have played with a greasy football.

I want to know, Collingwood, have you ever seen the rain?

I assume you're referring to Scotty's comment about being a pies crowd as in a home game.

If so Scott's degree in rocket science must still be in the mail.

From the University of Damoa I guess. Like Saul's law degree.

Every Collingwood fan I know or have seen write on bigfooty have been painful.
I don’t know if I should even turn up.. apparently there’s no way we beat them.

Also been reading post on bigfooty and Facebook by Collingwood fans trying to get the word out to start the collingwooooooood chant a minute before the game. God help me haha

Low key would love for them to do that and lose and we can all gracefully give it back

Rd’s 21-23 the Pies conceded over  100 points, the only other 2 teams to concede over 100 points three weeks in a row were North and the Eagles.

Rd’s 22-24 we conceded 60, 60, 56.

Most relevant form line I have ever seen to suit my emotional agenda. 🙌

The boys won’t care how wet it is. In the first 8 weeks of 2021 we played in the rain about 4-5 times and won them all.
This season we’ve lost a couple of close ones in the wet and some of our best footy came in the pouring rain during the third quarter of the Port game where we piled on 7 goals.
Us being no good in the rain is a little overblown I think.

We beat Collingwood in the GF 1960 in the wet so this could be a good omen. 🙄.    They were credited with 2.2.14 but if there was score review back then, yes even the garbage they have today, it would have been 1.2.8.

this band really needs a lot of explosions and a very dark arena to pull the whole thing off.

That's pretty much my dating strategy in a nutshell.

Just wheel them on stage unplugged & play the 'Dynasty' album over the PA system.

Listening to Jono Brown and Buckley having a crack at Garry Lyon over whether the Melbourne fans will turn up on Thursday on Fox Footy makes me wanna throw up. What is with these morons. The game is a sellout! Have they any idea? This myth about us having small crowds has been dispelled by stats again this year. Pizz of Bucks and Brown. Then having Lyon bow to there jibes and urge Dees fans to show up, just get stuffed

KISS, bloody hell I was listening to them in the roller disco, Mornington in 1982, the world has turned. I am old, but it doesn't mean I need to see someone playing from my vintage. It needs to be Australian, however the best of our stadium rockers have gone past it, in terms of live performance (Oils try hard though).  Midnight Oil, AC/DC, Barnes, Crowded House, Nick Cave, would hate to see them have a go and just reflect faded glory.

So I reckon Hilltop hoods, while not rock, have a big sound and a couple of songs that would suit: (1955 is a favorite for a reason) but read to the lyrics from 'The Thirst'.

We have the thirst
We have the hunger
We dive head first into the wonder
We have the thirst
We have the hunger
We dive head first into the wonder

Remind me again how many premierships FIGJAM won as player or coach? Oh that’s right 0.

Just like the amount of clue he has.

King Gizzard And The Lizard Wizard need to do a GF. King Stingray would be great too.

No Kings Of Leon, though. And for the love of god, keep David King away from the stage.

Here are the AFL and Melb's average tackles and contested possessions per game for the past three H/A seasons:

2023    AFL Tackles  61.8     Melb  61.7        AFL Cont.poss  136       Melb  145.7

2022    AFL Tackles  58.3    Melb  56.5       AFL Cont.poss   136.9    Melb  148.4

2021    AFL Tackles  57.4     Melb  62.2        AFL Cont.poss  136       Melb  148.6

Over these three years, Melb consistently had the highest contested possessions. Our tackling was in the mid-range this year(better than last year), but we had two recent high numbers: 88 tackles against Carl in Round 22 (Carl 87), and 79 tackles against Syd in Round 24 (Syd 76). In the Sydney game, Viney, ANB and Mills(Syd) each made 12 tackles, the highest individual number among all the games in Round 24. I reckon ANB has never laid so many tackles in a single game before(his average tackles per game was 4.7 this year). He is in great form.

    GETAWAY by Meggs

Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval. It promises to be keenly contested, though Fremantle is the bookies clear favourite.  If we lose, finals could be remoter than Rottnest Island especially following on from the Dees 50-point dismantlement by North Melbourne last Sunday.  There are 8 remaining matches, over the next 7 weeks.  To Meggs’

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out

    GOOD MORNING by Meggs

If you are driving or training it to Cranbourne on Saturday, don’t forget to set your alarm clock. The Melbourne Demons play the reigning premiers Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields this Saturday, with the bounce of the ball at 11:05am.  Yes, that’s AM.   The AFLW fixture shows deference to the AFL men’s finals games.  So, for the men it’s good afternoon and good evening and for the women it’s good morning.     The Lions were wounded last week by 44 points, their highest ever los

    HORE ON FIRE by Meggs

The 40,000 seat $319 million redeveloped Kardinia Park Stadium was nowhere near capacity last night but the strong, noisy contingent of Melbourne supporters led by the DeeArmy journeyed to Geelong to witness a high-quality battle between two of the best teams in AFLW.   The Cats entered the arena to the blasting sounds of Zombie Nation and made a hot start kicking the first 2 goals. They brought tremendous forward half pressure, and our newly renovated defensive unit looked shaky.

    REMATCH by Meggs

The Mighty Demons take on the confident Cats this Saturday night at the recently completed $319 million redeveloped GMHBA Stadium, with the bounce of the ball at 7:15pm. Our last game of 2023 was an agonisingly close 5-point semi-final loss to Geelong, and we look forward to Melbourne turning the tables this week. Practice match form was scratchy for both teams with the Demons losing practice matches to Carlton and Port Adelaide, while the Cats beat Collingwood but then lost to Essendo

    WELCOME 2024 by Meggs

It’s been hard to miss the seismic global momentum happening in Women’s sport of late. The Matildas have been playing to record sell-out crowds across Australia and ‘Mary Fowler is God’ is chalked onto footpaths everywhere. WNBA basketball rookie sensation Caitlin Clark has almost single-handedly elevated her Indiana Fever team to unprecedented viewership, attendances and playoffs in the USA.   Our female Aussie Paris 2024 Olympians won 13 out of Australia’s all-time record 18 gol

    EPILOGUE by Whispering Jack

I sit huddled in near darkness, the only light coming through flickering embers in a damp fireplace, the room in total silence after the thunderstorm died. I wonder if they bothered to restart the game.  No point really. It was over before it started. The team’s five star generals in defence and midfield ruled out of the fray, a few others missing in action against superior enemy firepower and too few left to fly the flag for the field marshal defiantly leading his outnumbered army int
