Demonland

Recommended Posts

The Demons will be back at the MCG for the second week in a row when they take on the Adelaide Crows on Sunday afternoon in a match where they can solidify their spot in the Top 4. Who comes in and who goes out?

Petty out

Tomlinson in

Petty is clearly not right and has been subbed off injured two weeks running. Tomlinson had a career best game before being dropped and has been slaughtering it in the VFL.

Tommo for Petty is a must.
Spargo marginal - maybe Chandler?

If Hibberd is OK to go, might he come in for Petty?
I think I'm in the 'give Tommo a go' camp but I can't think who Hibberd would replace. I thought J Smith makes a very good sub and played well tonight when he came on (and we played him both back and forward tonight), so he doesn't deserve to go.

Smith was good when he came on, however I think Tomo might be better against the Crows tall forwards allowing Lever to zone off

Spargs got himself in some good spots and created some channels as usual but will be in the gun as his execution was poor for the most part, Chandler will come into consideration

Brown stays because when he played the high forward role it opened them up and gave us the separation early.

I think Spargo has to make way for Chandler.

His lack of penetration with his kicking really costs the team at times. Not to mention the amount of times he gets out marked 1 v 1 . Chandler at least offers a goal threat and has some real penetration when he swings on his preferred foot.

Petty needs to get himself right; Tommo in, and then to prove again that he is a reliable third tall so that when Petty is ready he can play CHF.

When does Petty have to prove he is a reliable defender in the VFL?

No doubt he will, but there are different standards being applied here to two players.

Way too logical.

4 hours ago, whatwhat say what said:

either tomlinson or, preferably, hibberd in for petty

joel smith back as sub

Wouldn't it mean our D line is a bit small?

May plays on Tex , who plays on Fogarty?

We need the 3 tall backs set up.  Tomlinson for Petty, not Hibberd who may need to play VFL.

Agree Joel for sub.

Ben Brown was very good early and almost good late when he very nearly clunked a few. Grundy is ultimately a possible replacement, I think he can learn and adapt at VFL level. I'm not against this idea and I think Max needs ruck support to go the whole journey.  That said, I thought JVR was very competitive last night.

Maybe Chandler for Spargo, but it's not going to make a major difference.

Two weeks in a row we're facing the two top scoring teams. Crows can score fast, hopefully we have "learnings" for the middle part of the match vs Brisbane.

I don’t understand the talk from some in the media that it’s either Brown or Grundy.

They play a totally different role, if anything the resting Rick should be at the expense of a small forward.

To me, it is JVR or Grundy if Brown’s knee holds up

Spargo is a very smart player but jeez he can frustrate when he is screaming for the ball and ignores hands so he can then try to bite off a kick or a shot that he literally is incapable of kicking.

He needs to tighten up his decision making around his limitations.

I would bring in Chandler.

    THE BLOW by Whispering Jack

Narrm’s finals prospects took a crushing blow after the team’s insipid performance at Optus Stadium against a confident Waaljit Marawar in the first of its Doug Nicholls Round outings for 2024.  I use the description “crushing blow” advisedly because, although the season is not yet at it’s halfway mark, the Demons have now failed abysmally in two of their games against teams currently occupying bottom eight places on the ladder.  The manner in which these losing games were played out w

HALF FULL by KC from Casey

It was a case of the Casey Demons going into a game with a glass half full in their match up against the Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields on Saturday. As the list of injured and unavailable AFL and VFL listed players continues to grow and with Melbourne taking all three emergencies to Perth for the weekend on a “just in case” basis, its little brother was always destined to struggle. Casey was left with only eight AFL listed players from who to select their team but only two - an out-of-form

GAMEDAY: Rd 10 vs West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had
