VOTES: Rd 10 vs Yartapuulti

Recommended Posts

6  Oliver - prevented us from being overwhelmed

5  May - undaunted in a rough night for our defenders

4  Petracca - far from a complete game but was the driver when we actually got going

3  Fritsch - crucial to the forward movements

2  Rivers - showed sustained energy and initiative when few did

1  Hunter - just to annoy the haters, who make no sense (also, there's not a lot to choose from)

6 - May (4qutr game)

5 - Rivers

4 - Tracc ( great 2nd half)

3 - Clayton ( better once he got angry)

2 - Fritta ( if he snuck that in we could have stolen that game)

1 - Hunter kept going all night

That was a terrible game tonight we fumbled, bumbled, mis tackled and failed to man up and still only went down by four points, should have been 4 goals.

It's not that simple unfortunately. One or two mids can have good game and the whole midfield thrashed. Oliver, Viney and Petracca at least got us back in the third quarter. Supporting your argument May and Fritta were the only ones to really win their positions.

Melb's problem is the depth of it's midfield compared to the good sides. Butters, Drew, Rozee, Boak, Horne Francis, Wines, etc are better than us. Collingwood has even better depth.

May and Fritsch were the only ones to win their positions. That part is correct, as is the depth of Port compared to us in the middle of the ground. Petracca played a quarter, Oliver was just average most of the night.  They got belted by the Port mids.  They were both better than Viney and Brayshaw but worse than Butters, Rozee, JHF and Drew.  As I said elsewhere, the fact we got three goals in front and only lost by less than a kick was pretty miraculous given that we won two positions on the night. I'm quite optimistic about what might happen this season because I doubt we will be beaten that comprehensively across the ground again this year.

Brisbane, Essendon game? Why do we keep lying to ourselves?

Ridiculous.

Hibbo did his job. Didn’t give away any frees. Battled and pressured. Sure handling.  It’s not all about 25+ possessions with turnovers and stupid little handballs.  Alongside Rivers and May, he was our best defender.  Maybe 4 was ambitious but if didn’t want to elevate our Mids who disappointed on the night.

6 Hunter

5 May

4 Fritsch

3 Salem

2 Rivers

1 Hibberd

Honourable mentions;

None far too many had leather aversion.

Adjudication;

Some free kicks in the forward line would help but the ball needs to get and be there.

From the Directors Chair;

Who are you? Fuchsias, Demons … ? Nice to be good community citizens but winning games of football is core business if you want to be at the big end of town.

Broadcast;

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

    Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,

    GALLANT by KC from Casey

    The world “gallant” is not one that is readily acceptable to losing teams in our game of football so when it was used in the context of the Casey Demons’ loss to Sandringham in yesterday’s match at Casey Fields, it left a bitter taste in the mouth.  The Demons went into the game against the St Kilda affiliated Zebras with the advantage of playing on their home turf (not that this has been a major asset in 2024) and with very little else going in their favour. The Saints have close to a full

    MEANWHILE by Whispering Jack

    … meanwhile, at about the same time that Narrm was putting its feet on the accelerator to obliterate the long-suffering Euro-Yroke combination, I heard someone mention in passing that Kuwarna was leading Waalitj Marawar by a whopping 46 to 1 halfway through the second quarter of their game over in Adelaide. “What is football coming to?” I asked myself.  In front of my eyes, the Demons were smashing it through the midfield, forcing turnovers and getting the footy to their forwards who w
