GAMEDAY: Rd 02 vs Brisbane

Demonland

Respect the opponent and play our game. They’re on their home deck and embarrassed us in a clutch final just a few months ago. They will be fired up after last week with a point to prove.

MFCSS would be a lot less if not for a Pickett brain fade last week but we have some huge ins and I think our defence will again be the deciding factor.

Besides Andrews and Rich, the Lions are Apron FC (no backs) and I just can’t see them holding off Brown, McDonald, Fritta let alone our small forwards.

Dees by 20 points.

I can see Brisbane playing a hit them hard, give them nothing game. Prepare for a fight.

Love to see us continue with the use of attacking corridors, the good use of angles as we go into the 50, and the great transition between offence and defence.

Still need to work on momentum and tempo, which we did well in game 1.

May will be well schooled on game analysis and structures, after the week in the coaches box.

Oliver, Pettraca, Viney and Gawndy at the stoppages, yes.

Hunter to have an outstanding game, (without thoughts of his old team).

Run them off their feet TMac.

Hit it hard Chandler, get in "the zone".

J.Smith is an interesting emergency. Can't be game fit! Perhaps for 50 minutes, though Tomlinson/Melksham, even JJ as sub, must be ahead of him.

Go Dees.

Who else would like to see the sub as a choice of any of the emergencies? I think that would bring in a sense of mystery. Look at our emergencies, all different players that could do different things if brought on.

Did Pig travel up with them? I see he isn’t on the emergency list but I do worry a bit about what the plan is to shut down Charlie if he gets off the leash. Melk was great as sub last week but I wonder if Pig is a better choice tonight (assuming Tommo plays for May and Pig is elevated onto emergency list).

Reckon Melk would be OK if he gets a few runs and starts getting noticed by the umpires. But there are several who could cover him - just a matter of who does what on the night.

I don’t think that suits them or works for them, hopefully they try, if we get away early we’ll then get into their heads.

Keen to see how young Chandler goes again.

Speed Chandler up over the next few weeks and we have another Kozzie (almost - marking excluded).

Like many games accuracy on goal will decide this one. Both ourselves and the Dogs left 4-6 goals each on the table last week.

Get that goal to behind ratio to around 70/30 and the game is ours.

Three big ins for us.. hopefully all fit and match ready.

Cameron had four possessions last week. Is he waning?

Expect to see Gawn scragged and Oliver tagged.

With Sydney next week this is a big game in the scheme of things

They've brought in Darcy Fort, is this a first instance of a team changing their selection to try and match Gawn/Grundy? Or would he have played anyway and just wasn't fit last week?

thought the same myself will be an interesting watch though the season,

Also brought in Joyce to have the extra tall defender to match up when we have a ruck resting forward. When we go with Brown and the ruck it it really gives Fritch the mis match.

With the 4th umpire inside 50 and side on to forward contests, it really exposes the hits on Gawn and BigBen. I think there is not going to be bias shown towards free kick evening up either anymore.

Our defenders aren't angels either, they will do illegal things just like every defender in the game, just have to be smarter about it.

Well they can try, but we all know what happened at the gabba the last time they tried to pick a fight.

I got to admit I like the concept of having a 4th umpire.  I think this will pick up on a lot of missed infringements deep in the back / forward lines for all teams.

I think (hope) that overall, we will potentially benefit from this more than a lot of other sides. 🤞 BBB and Gawn are two that may/ should be less hindered or pick up free kicks (as you mentioned above). GO DEES!

Tomlinson must be  feeling stiff. Not even picked as a sub.

The Lions defence looks ordinary with that [censored] captain floating around the chb line.

Petty better get ready for his snipes when he comes up the ground.

They'll definitely be coming for Petty and try and put him off his game.

Yea feel for Tommo. He's done it tough with some serious injuries. Plays a great game then gets dropped. Double edged sword playing for a club with so much talent. I wouldn't have minded him being subbed into the fwd line with a couple of last quarter goals. Thought it might have been the smart play given concern over Maysie and Tmac but I'm wise enough now to finally  accept the club's call.

    THE BLOW by Whispering Jack

Narrm’s finals prospects took a crushing blow after the team’s insipid performance at Optus Stadium against a confident Waaljit Marawar in the first of its Doug Nicholls Round outings for 2024.  I use the description “crushing blow” advisedly because, although the season is not yet at it’s halfway mark, the Demons have now failed abysmally in two of their games against teams currently occupying bottom eight places on the ladder.  The manner in which these losing games were played out w

HALF FULL by KC from Casey

It was a case of the Casey Demons going into a game with a glass half full in their match up against the Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields on Saturday. As the list of injured and unavailable AFL and VFL listed players continues to grow and with Melbourne taking all three emergencies to Perth for the weekend on a “just in case” basis, its little brother was always destined to struggle. Casey was left with only eight AFL listed players from who to select their team but only two - an out-of-form

GAMEDAY: Rd 10 vs West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had
