Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

So Sydney are doing better than us because two of their three imports couldn't get a game for us? Grass is always greener.

Didn't say that at all mate lol. Just said that Sydney are cleaning up well in filling in the needs that they have identified immediately.

So what does that make McAdam and Fullerton to us then? One didn't even play a game this year and another was actually left out by Adelaide and had half a year in the reserves (even though I think he'll be an okay pick up).

I think our focus will be moving up the draft order during the trade period but we still have holes in our side that still needs addressing.

I like Sydney's ability to get on the front foot straight away and get the players they want and could come in immediately and have an instant impact.

horse is gonna be hoarse from all the yelling he does at poor old dean cox when grundy is standing in the middle of the scg not pushing forward nor back

Grundy will be doing a light jog, sometimes moving into a light sprint back and forth, miss reading the flight of the ball.

You compared them to us with Fullerton, hence the grass is greener. I wouldn't say we're cleaning up with Fullerton and McAdams and I wouldn't say Sydney are cleaning up either. Quantity doesn't better quality.

But I agree with your sentiment RE filling needs in our list via the draft with elite talent, rather than via fringe players we're deficit in from other clubs.

Adams has a history of hammies and is ageing. He fits the Swans need for an inside mid though. Could go either way.

Adams was the biggest butcher around which is why Fly moved him to half forward -where he was very good. Be interesting to see if the Swans even let him play predominantly midfield and if his body holds up.

Grundy will be painfully good for them tho. He thrives on the responsibility of being the number 1 ruck. Longmire will scream at his defensive efforts but he might be motivated to improve them.

And I like JJ and Hamling as free agents. Just not sure what they’ve paid JJ but they seem to have cap space. Hamling a risk worth taking, I’d have him for Tomlinson for sure, but he’s not the ideal fit for what we need from a 3rd tall, but a nice fit next to Rampe and McCartin.

I’d say smart shopping for a youngish side needing to beef up.

McAdam could work out well for us. Fullarton is an ok low cost flier. Would like to see us do something for pace and/or a versatile tall before the draft being our main focus.

No names can become names. Big names can be over rated.

2022 MFC drafts = Grundy and Hunter. A premiership captain and a multiple AA.

Apologise to Hunter, he was good this year. Fullerton will provide more forward craft.

I’d like to see Clayton Oliver have a change of roles which allows him to be released into more space.
IMO he would be even more damaging and it should allow him to use the ball better as well.

I wondered how he would have gone on the wing when Gus went down. a bit out there.

Think we really need to work on retiring BBB, unless his knee is magically healed and Tom Mac who at best will be at Casey all year, in a real sour end to his AFL career.

It would be more respectful to retire them gracefully and go out as senior players with an agreement on contract payout.

I hear you, but we need some insurance against injury. I suspect if both are keen to go around again, then we will be interested to let them do so. Finishing a career at Casey is not great, but may be better than the alternative (ie missing them when some younsters get injured or lose form).

The only player that will make Sydney significantly better is Grundy. The rest are average players who won’t improve them.

I rate Hickey’s value to the Swans game than what Grundy will bring. Hickey is tough, strong and works his [censored] off. Grundy not so much.

Yes but Hickey is done so the Swans desperately need a quality ruck. It’s why I’m annoyed they are low balling us.

Hopefully we find out early tomorrow If we are low balled. If it looks that way, I’m sure the club has a plan to whatever pick we get. The MFC focuses on the whole trade period/package, rather than an individual swap.

we have a better and deeper midfield than the Lions so if he wants game time he obviously won’t go to us

Neale, Dunkley, McClaggage, Bailey, Ashcroft (soon to be Ashcroft x 2), Lyons, Zorko, Fletcher, Dev Robertson, Berry. Throw in AhChee and occasionally Cam Raynor.

I'd say that's a pretty good midfield, both quality and depth

Players from non Vic clubs often go unheralded by the media

but that's exactly why mathieson doesn't make it into their side, and why he wouldn't make it into ours

Pies fans wanting pick 23 for adams, if that’s the market then 11 for Grundy thanks

Sydney better get creative, i really hope we don't cave in with a player who still has 4 years to run on a contract.

I can't see how it's not pick 11 for a KPP they desperately need.

Dees hold all the cards in this case.

Bollocks.

In fact I would argue we were over invested in pure mids and need a better balance - more like the lions and pies with more outside distributors.

So no issue losing JJ.

I agree we have the better midfield, but I think what gets lost in the argument is the depth. We've lost JJ, potentially Harmes and Dunstan has retired. Yes, they're depth mids, but they're gone and we're not too many injuries away from a thin midfield. I'd certainly like a more balanced midfield and hope our drafting addresses both balance and depth - McKercher or Duursma please

Agreed. Also want more mid time for Riv and Woey. And is it too much to ask that Kossie spend more time in the middle than one centre bounce per game?

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
