Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

It's a crazy time of the year. Print what you like, you don't need any proof. Get one story right out of a thousand and claim you're a reporter.

Same thing applies to a few posters on here who claim to be "in the know". Goodwindees is the only poster I trust.

Well Clarries second half of the year was his poorest on record (in my opinion) and against a sensational last 4 years of great years. His return from injury and finals were underwhelming and I thought one of Goodwins tasks during the off season was to not only change the game plan or focus of our chaos ball attack, but to get Clarrie to buy in and get re-energised within the team. Not necessarily an easy thing to do.

Add to that Yze going, who the midfield team apparently loved and theres plenty of space for clubs and journos to see a chance of jamming a wedge into our fragile team ethos after straight set double exits. We can be guaranteed these sort of stories continuing to be shoved down our throat, just as sure as the feelgood stories will continue for the next 12 odd months about Collingwood. It will be MFC who will be held to account for Brayshaws concussion issues, not football hero Maynard.

Finally Oliver has yet to become an adult. He might be off-side.

These are big issues for us going forward and Kate Roffey through to Goodwin and Max and the whole playing list need to spend time and energy healing, re-focussing and uniting into a strong and driven club. We are in for a wild off season.

Whether it's an unfounded rumour or not, it's our response that will count.

The uh... second half of the season that he mostly missed due to injury?

Expert appraisal.

Do not accuse me of being an expert Mach5. Those guys are idiots. Anyhow I apologise for not towing the company line of "it's all bulltish, bloody journos".

Anyhow the weeks before Clarry came back into the team our midfield had adapted and was in good form. I think we struggled re-integrating him back into the midfield. That sets up all kind of scenarios.

Personally I’d prefer to upgrade our running players than sell the farm for a key forward like McKay. I also think we should be drafting the next May. Don’t get me wrong if we can get McKay for 2 first round picks outside the top 10 I’m ok with that. But pick 5, give me someone more dynamic and game breaking.

Agree our game is built around the best defense.  You add a lumbering tall up forward and its one less player to race back to form the tight knit that doesn't allow holes.  Would rather groom a younger Jefferson to run back into that role.  Of course we still need someone to fill for Max if he goes down for insurance.

Is it better to kick an extra 3 goals or allow opposition to kick 5.

Clayton is a required player. But it's not unconditional.

He has to decide if he wants to be a walk up hall of famer or a bloke who was very good at footy for a while.

His choice.

Really,

heresay, fact or just pure speculation!????

Speculation of course. I only get news from here or I speculate Picket.

But a lot of people have a story about Oliver being out and about drunk. I know I have. Not to say he shouldn't be of course. Perfectly normal behavior for a young man. Not necessarily for a full time professional sportsman though who has to run 15 km every week and is at the coal face of most contests. He is being asked to sacrifice and compromise and personally I see it as an issue for him at this point in his short life.

Compare him to Trac and Viney, both married, comfortable in their own skin and settled down. Again not to knock Clarry at all. He just has a bit of growing up to do. And part of growing up is deciding whats right for you and how you would like to go about it.  I think his second half of the year reflected that.

The club is playing with fire if they are open to listening to offers for Clarry. We need to nip it in the bud ASAP.

Clarry may not have been at his best when he came back from injury, but that's understandable considering the setbacks he had during his rehab. He's been injury free since he started, so coming back from injury was new to him.

If he is allowed to look elsewhere, the only club with the currency is North. If he chooses another club, that limits what we can expect in return. Sure, we can hold him to his contract should trade talks break down, but we would then need to mend the fence with Clarry.

Clarry is a recent 2 time Coaches Award winner. That puts him in the top 10 players in the comp. MFC needs to shut this nonsense down.

Realistically only about 3 teams have the currency to get this done, it would be one of the biggest trades of all time. i kind of want it to happen just to see a deal on that scale.

I'd be wanting a top 5 pick and a player, or a top 5 pick and a top 10 pick to even start the conversation

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,
