I noticed that our training is still occasionally in the city, at Xavier College, 135 Bakers, Kew. Looked like they had a captain's run there, before the Brissy game.

Interesting they're not doing it at Port Melbourne ground like last year?

When I looked on google maps, it appeared that the oval was being refurbished. Perhaps it has a beautiful surface, and a great gym, now.

Any DL's are Old Xaviens, attend or have teenagers there?

Played footy there in 1963, biggest pile of mud in southern hemisphere

One of the grounds I played on in junior footy was literally a paddock with goal posts at each end.

We had to shoo the sheep off the ground before we could start the game, but evidence of their existence was obvious wherever you looked.

The coach didn't need to remind us to keep our feet when we played there.

No but I know it very well, lived down the road for several years. They were re-doing the Chapel Oval surface at the start of the year last time I saw.

Problem with Eltham was whenever there was heavy rain all the surrounding septic contents would run down the hill and settle on the oval....all the stud stopmark scratches would blow up with infection by mid week.....noice

Most likely training on the Roache Oval. Played away there a few times. The surface itself is great and the school has a passion for football. Change room area under the grandstand there is small. Not a bad facility to train at but in terms of the best in the APS I would have gone Scotch or Caulfield Grammar (Wheelers Hill)

Can never get out to Casey.

I don't have a car, and public transport is very time consuming.

There are those that can attend, but because it is posted as closed training, the club is not encouraging any spectators at trainings.

Again, I think they could and should do better.

I know it had been asked before and had been answered somewhere but…… sorry to be a pain, where can one access training  locations, dates / times on the web?

Surprised that Beaumaris Secondary School's deck isnt considered. The MCC have some sort of arrangement with the school and government to have facilities out there. Was there a few months back doing a school tour for my son - i recall it had been really wet and soggy for a number of days and the surface was pristine. Reminded me of the G during GF day.

Wet grass and copious duck droppings produced the slipperiest surface I've ever played any sport on. Made particularly hilarious by it being lunch time inter-departmental competitions between public servants within sight of OPH.

The surfaces all looked absolutely flawless; lush, neatly trimmed and tree-lined. But they were definitely maintained as ornamental lawns, not playing fields.

Duckcrap smears all ranks alike.

They haven't been good at posting open trainings though.

My guess for training is:

Monday review run, 11.00 or 11.30 am, either Casey or Xavier.  (Possibly Tuesday)

Day before game, a captain's run at Xavier, 9.30 am.

The main training out at Casey at 9.30 am, Wednesday or Thursday.

As I recall the Beaumaris oval was designated to be exactly MCG dimensions.  Some association with MCC / Vic cricket.  I would love them to train there - nice and close to home.

    GALLANT by KC from Casey

The world “gallant” is not one that is readily acceptable to losing teams in our game of football so when it was used in the context of the Casey Demons’ loss to Sandringham in yesterday’s match at Casey Fields, it left a bitter taste in the mouth.  The Demons went into the game against the St Kilda affiliated Zebras with the advantage of playing on their home turf (not that this has been a major asset in 2024) and with very little else going in their favour. The Saints have close to a full

    MEANWHILE by Whispering Jack

… meanwhile, at about the same time that Narrm was putting its feet on the accelerator to obliterate the long-suffering Euro-Yroke combination, I heard someone mention in passing that Kuwarna was leading Waalitj Marawar by a whopping 46 to 1 halfway through the second quarter of their game over in Adelaide. “What is football coming to?” I asked myself.  In front of my eyes, the Demons were smashing it through the midfield, forcing turnovers and getting the footy to their forwards who w

HEAVEN OR HELL by The Oracle

Clashes between Melbourne and St Kilda are often described as battles between the forces of heaven and hell. However, based on recent performances, it’s hard to get excited about the forthcoming match between these two sides. It would be fair to say that, at the moment, both of these teams are in the doldrums. The Demons have become the competition’s slow starters while the Saints are not only slow to begin, they’re not doing much of a job finishing off their games either. About the only th

    THE BLOW by Whispering Jack

Narrm’s finals prospects took a crushing blow after the team’s insipid performance at Optus Stadium against a confident Waaljit Marawar in the first of its Doug Nicholls Round outings for 2024.  I use the description “crushing blow” advisedly because, although the season is not yet at it’s halfway mark, the Demons have now failed abysmally in two of their games against teams currently occupying bottom eight places on the ladder.  The manner in which these losing games were played out w
