Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Petracca a watch. If he isnt 100%, dont risk him.

ANB - what gives?  Think he could easily be replaced by chandler or bedders.

too many played poorly.

As much as I despise Chris Scott as a person. What he has done well is integrate young players into the team over the years with the protection senior players. We have had opportunities to integrate players this year, being 10-0, injured players, players returning too soon from injury. We have had opportunities to do so this year but have not aside from possibly Bedford. For me we have had players at Casey deserving of an opportunity but not given one other than being named in a squad. We have had players in the ones underperforming that have not been kept honest by dropping them. Sure we finished second on the ladder with a relatively hard draw which you have to be happy with but I feel that we have missed opportunities to be better with player selection, development and method. Anything less than a Preliminary final berth will be an epic fail. The buzz word for us this year was to be “ruthless” as a football club. I don’t think we have been unfortunately.

Agree 100%

It's my biggest gripe for this year. I'd understand if Casey were performing poorly but they've lost 1 game this year.

Look at the way Collingwood have integrated their young kids this year. They've 6 debutants while we've had 1 this year.. go figure.

Certainly better against Brisbane, but the pressure level vs Brisbane was nowhere near vs Geelong.

We also ran and used the ball very well against Brisbane, where as we played on a 5 day break at the Geelong half ground with no space and not much dare.

I’d be reluctant to pick him in a final but our midfield really doesn’t need more Dunstan and they’re the only likely options to replace Tracc, which without knowing the full details I still think will be required.

In fairness, we are already very young. However, watching Lever, Kozzie, and a couple others play through obvious injuries is something that I will not understand. Part of being this good is that you should be able to use your squad. I get all players play through ‘niggles’ but Lever for instance was in so much pain and discomfort he took his boot off at half time in games for a month there.

Hard to disagree...

The games against North and the Eagles were ripe for squad use even if it only meant resting Gawn.

Anyway it's more a subject for post season discussion but I have not been impressed by our VFL team strategy at all

I called for Weideman in for Jackson about a month ago.

Jackson clearly is distracted and has offered next to nothing for much of the season.

Different circumstances though, right?

Both Geelong and Collingwood are older than us. Collingwood's also had injuries, so they've had no choice but to play more of their squad.

We don't have ageing stars like Collingwood and Geelong do, and funnily enough the player who is in most need of having a replacement prepared is probably Gawn, so we've been putting serious minutes into Jackson, which dazzle has complained of.

And of course, we finished 2nd on the ladder. So whatever we were doing in the H&A season was, overall, working.

Walking around south Melb market today wearing my scarf.

at least 10 people commented about how are we going against Brisbane. Wishing good luck.
probable two demon fans in that lot.

I was just amazed at the good Will for the demons.

I know it won’t happen but:

In - Weideman,

Out - Jackson

Why?

Gawn to play 80% of the game as a ruckman because he’s the best ruckman in the league and should be played there accordingly every week.

Weideman to replace Jackson as Jackson has next to zero forward craft and I don’t want him playing down there 80% of the game and clunking 1 mark if he’s lucky. Weid’s obviously a forward by trade and has a history of playing well in his return games.

Please let's not revisit thus.

I guess he's a better choice tgan Melksham si I get where you are coming from but there must be another option if if we have to try Petty up there.

The weid experiment ifor me is well and truly over.

Weid would do his career a favour if he changed clubs.

Why are people dropping Salem? In a team full of butchers and dumb footballer his poise stands out...

IN: Bowey, JVR
OUT: ANB, Melk

I acknowledge they're unlikely to bring Bowey in for a forward but anyone with a pulse is an upgrade of ANB at the minute

JVR in for the steak bandit

Because Salem is half the player hexwas last year.

I'd keep him in but I get others saying replace him.

Jackson has played two good games this season that I can remember - both the Brisbane games - so he is a must this week. I’m sure he’s played another few satisfactory games but out of 22 or so he’s played, he’s been borderline pathetic. He’s only been getting a game really because lack of alternative options, and also to ensure his trade value remains high (I.e. hard to justify maximum compensation for someone leaving when they’re not getting a game).

What happened with Milshake.

Has been ordinary for 2 years but gets selected mostly due to injuries.

Comes out and plays tge 2 best games of his career almost and than went back in his shell at the worst time.

With Bbb, Kozzie and Jackson down on form there was only Fritta.

Oliver popped up and kicked 2.

Goody could have made some fwd changes at 3 qtr time.

He had three clear chances to kick goals. Chances that were all far above 50/50 chances. If he nailed all of them, which he should have, we’d be praising his game. He’s putting himself in the right spot to get shots on goal, he’s just got to finish well. This is more than we can say about others, who’ve been in worse form and been liabilities for a lot longer (namely Neal-Bullen)

No change, no time to panic, we nearly had them beaten twice.

Change the tactical kick into the Forward line.

Im not saying they should bring in Tmac. But we were horribly exposed for the lack of a second key forward.

Even if Melksham kicked straight. We constantly win the ball in the middle and snap it out to CHF to only have ANB or Sparrow contest it.

And with Brayshaw not in the wing now we lack a link up down the line. We need one of Smith or JVR in to straighten us up.

Fritta is playing injured as well. Tempted to suggest we drop Melksham but may be worth one more run and go in unchanged (barring changes for injuries that require resting/recovery).

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
