Really? I thought I was making it clear without actually having to say it.

Consider this: it’s not beyond the realm of possibility that a player makes himself unavailable for selection. I’m not saying that’s what’s happened in the case of our semifinal. I’m just asking that you entertain the possibility that that’s what may’ve happened. That selfsame player might’ve already decided his future wasn’t with us. But it seems fans have automatically deemed this a choice entirely made by the Club.

The Player is being paid by The Club, to work.
Personally I would have Played him against his old Club in a Final. To see him in the Grand Stand with a Demon Scarf was wrong

Oh well. Atleast Dees have plenty of cap space and traded mostly fringe players except Hibberd( retired).

No impact at all come next season unless Gawn injured. Surprised Harmes got a 3y deal and JJ will never set the house on fire.

Who can we buy with all our extra cash after no salary dumps req?  lol

You would’ve FORCED him to play? You can lead a horse to water etc.

it is his F$&@ing Job. and yes Playing against his old side that kicked him out would have been a motivating factor.

Hey @Stiff Arm, remember when@drysdale demon got really defensive and had a crack at both of us mid year for suggesting that there was a slight chance Grundy could be traded out and he completely shut it down by stating he was contracted so it was impossible?

That was funny... 🤣

Your a bit late , thought you would of posted that weeks ago.

Good luck motivating someone to do something in which they simply have no interest, no matter the opposition.

Yes it’s his paid job. So, what are you gonna do? Play him because it’s your right to play him, regardless of what he wants? Do you think Goody is that foolish?

Later Brodie. It's been real, sort of.

If some of the suggestions here that he checked out or refused to be picked are true then that is just poor on his part.

Good on you Layz. At least you’re willing to consider this as a possibility. People need to broaden their minds and quit making assumptions.

Happens in world sports all the time (especially soccer) ... and people are the same all over

Once the player lays down the tools (or threatens to or is perceived to) then it's time to part company.  Other clubs make an offer and they're off (but in the AFL's case the move happens once the season is over)

We haven't seen it much in footy as the bigger money and longer contracts is a more recent thing.  And breaking contracts is now becoming more prevalent

Welcome to pro sports, footy

My take on the Grundy move is that he was almost certainly told that his opportunities were limited (to learn forward craft (at Casey) in a short space of time for a veteran is a pipe dream) ... so that was the end of the relationship there and then

So he and his manager shop around in the season proper until the destination club emerges (Sydney) ... so they bide their time knowing that he won't be recalled to the senior side.  Why?  Because the relationship was already over

I may be in the minority here but I think Sydney outmanoeuvred us in the Grundy deal. I expect he will show us next season that he is still an elite ruckman worth far more than they gave in return.

I expect so, too. He is still an elite ruckman but that alone clearly wasn’t enough to make it work… with us. I hope he goes well next season but I don’t look forward to hearing how we, through our mismanagement, let a great ruckman go.

The only people who out manoeuvred us were .....ourselves  😉

All our own doing and ineptness.

Good bye and good luck Brodie Grundy it sounded like it could work, one in the ruck one up forward, take a couple of marks kick a couple of goals. Sadly the experiment failed and Brodie has moved on. We have freed up $650k towards a replacement player we got back what we laid out, a wasted year and life goes on. No good sooking about it Or getting angry with each other none of us know what actually caused the breakdown .!!!

GAMEDAY: Rd 10 vs West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had

    CENTIMETRES by Whispering Jack

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak
