Great news

and why wouldn’t he sign up for life. Our window is wide open for the next 5 years, great list profile at a stable well run club

these are great days we’re living in folks

I feel like Max Smart on Get Smart when he gets told he’s a field agent, shouting under the cone of silence:

“I’M SO HAPPY”

Genuinely thought this would drag out all next year. Pumped! Gives us some certainty to get other deals done.

Fantastic news, has made my day.

Woke up this morning and have just found out that my gas heater is stuffed and I am freezing cold , but strangely it feels like it is a most amazing day.

Reckon if we now snag Gus and Dogga in the not too distant future I could even handle the power going off.

Go DEES!

That’s coz it IS a most amazing day!

Clarrie quietly inking that [censored] amidst the brouhaha over Gussy and Dogga. ❤️💙

wodja, bummer about your gas heater. Just remember, two words: LOTSA LAYERS. 🙂

Just as in this frame hopefully Dogga is following Clarry on a contract extension.

Well done Clarry and MFC. Ensures we will be in a window for 5/8 years at least especially if we keep Dogga for a few years.

Congtats Clarry you are probably going to be the greatest Demon ever by 2030 ( or Trac) or someone else like Dogga if he stays long enough.

Maybe Could trigger off Angus and Dogga deals sooner than expected

Go Dees

our bad weeks are gone and sunshine ahead in 2022.

Being caught up with Gus and LJ I forgot about our No. 1 priority!

this is the best news possible.

gotta love this club, our best player of a generation and we don’t have to worry for one second about losing him or Trac to free agency.

could not love this bloke anymore.

This is the big one. Our midfield is set for the next 8 years. You beauty. Well done MFC and well done Clarry.

The demons are definitely in turmoil! Trac, Clarry, Vines, Sales etc signed up for life

Coaches stable and happy.

Top of the ladder after our first flag in 57 years

find another BS story Herald Sun!!

Bang! Bang bang bang!

[censored] ecstatic to read this news. Clarry is the most important signing of the lot. I didn’t expect this to happen until later next year, so to have it done now and avoid all the distraction is great. But even better, he’s signed long term. He’s a demon forever. My favorite player and will likely finish his career as the best to ever pull on the red and blue. Absolute legend. Onya Clarry! Go Dees!

Started writing but this sums it up. Never thought anyone could top Robbie in my eyes and heart but I believe he's our best ever already.

Geatest day of the year......so far 😈

Holy [censored]! This has honestly not only made my day but made my year!

OMFG a love like no other. Well done Clarry 😍

If this doesn't absolutely smack of great culture then I don't know what does!

Jackson will be silly as all hell to leave now!

Th best thing about this is it was so random. I mean no one was talking about Oliver, yes I know he wasn't out of contract this season but everyone is so focused on Angus and LJ and Melbourne just went boom this morning and dropped this.

There is also no fan fare about it, no presser just an email. Now I bet today journos are rushing down to melbourne to speak to him.

I reckon whoever sent out the email was pretty happy to be pressing send.

It also says that Oliver has no issue what so ever playing under Goodwin and the stuff that was bought up about him in the off season.

Well done Clayton.

Puts a lot of what people, who claim to be “insiders”, say into perspective.  Lots of people in the know in the media and on socials completely missed the lifetime contract about to be signed by the league’s best midfielder.

It's announcements like this that tell me that our club, right now, is being well run.

Hasn't always been the case, and it's extremely reassuring.

From a supporters point of view its always great to see our best players commit to the club long term just like we have - it shows a clear aligned interest in wanting the club to be successful long term.

These guys should all know they have a fairly unique opportunity to enjoy a sustained period of success if they stick to the script and keep working hard. Its the sum of the parts that makes a great team - lets hope all of the parts think the same way

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Western Bulldogs

The Dogs reigned supreme in 2018 with an inaugural AFLW premiership cup and the Demons matched this feat by winning the cup as the Season 7 2022 champions.Meggs wasn’t born when the Doggies won their first VFL premiership cup against the Demons in 1954. Covid prevented many Demons fans from legally witnessing the victorious 2021 AFL Grand Final cup performance between the Demons and the Bulldogs, but we all grin when remembering those magnificent seven third quarter goals.

  • PREVIEW: Hawthorn

Hawthorn and Melbourne. Two teams with impressive form from last week but with seasons that are travelling on different trajectories meet in Saturday’s twilight game for what could well be the most intriguing contest of the AFL’s penultimate round. Sadly, the game has been relegated to that unappealing time slot in the weekend when Melburnians are typically preoccupied with activities other than football. It falls between the morning's shopping, afternoon sport and recreation, and Saturday night fever. A time usually reserved for relatively insignificant events but this one is not a nothingburger for either of the clubs or their fans.

  • REPORT: Western Bulldogs

The next coach of the Melbourne Football Club faces the challenge of teaching his players how to win games against all comers. At times during this tumultuous season, that task has seemed daunting, made more so in light of the surprise news last week of the sacking of premiership coach Simon Goodwin. However, there were also some positive signs from yesterday’s match against the Western Bulldogs that the challenge may not be as difficult as one might think. The two sides presented a genuine football spectacle, featuring pulsating competitive play with eight lead changes throughout the afternoon, in a display befitting a finals match. The result could have gone either way and in the end, it came down to which team could produce the most desperate of acts to provide a winning result. It was the Bulldogs who had their season on the line that won out by a six point margin that fitted the game and the effort of both sides.

  • CASEY: Brisbane

The rain had been falling heavily in south east Queensland when the match began at Springfield, west of Brisbane. The teams exchanged early goals and then the Casey Demons proceeded like a house on fire in the penultimate game of the VFL season against a strong opponent in the Brisbane Lions. Sparked by strong play around the ground by seasoned players in Charlie Spargo and Jack Billings, a strong effort from Bailey Laurie and promising work from youngsters in Kynan Brown and  Koltyn Tholstrup, the Demons with multiple goal kickers firing, raced to a 27 point lead late in the opening stanza. A highlight was a wonderful goal from Laurie who brilliantly sidestepped two opponents and kicked beautifully from 45 metres out.
