It’s funny, just went looking around to see if official announcement coming out and get to see positive signs on Demonland.

I think it would give the team a bit of a boost this week, hopefully resulting in a win on Friday!

Especially if all this talk around here about team ethos is ruined now because of Jackson..

Hells Bells I hope this is true    We need some positive news,

I only thought we faltered twice in the last quarter  that's all I saw   but it was enough to give them the win, a sniff for the finals,  they are dogs after all, and everyone thinks we stink.   But we are second on the ladder and good percentage,   If we have been, loading now is the time to relax   bring it on again for half a week then fly into the finals    Go Dees

Won’t do it again but unfortunately for him, I said it first.

Rick did say it on The Young Ones, but it's a very, very old gag.

I yelled at him to sign the contract when he was running to the interchange in the last quarter on Saturday night. That obviously tipped him over.

You’re all very welcome.

Weird because I told Jackson "Please don't go" and he now appears more likely to leave than he did before the weekend.

Meeting with Essendon will make any player re-sign with their club.

Leave it to you to inject some humour about Essendon.

Pretty dank.

A more important signing for me than Jackson. Make it happen already!

Nailed it Jaded.

Our cultural space is secure for the future.

Jackson and Taylor will deal with that issue for everyone's benfit.

I may be wrong but there didn't seem to be a podcast last week. Did max and gus put on hold knowing this was coming this week??????

They generally don’t do one during a short break. Given we had to travel and had a 6 day turnaround I think they gave it a miss.

just like most of us, for me Young Ones is a relevant cultural reference, 'you complete and utter ba$tard'.

Was sure they will be aiming for the highest number views on G&G. Am beyond happy with this, was already over the loss but now it is a good news week. I think Brayshaw is a key part of our attempt to build a dynasty.

Hope this positivity is based on reality!

Not been too sure about the “wanting more midfield” anyway given his concussion history. Half back / wing seems a better fit.

Makes sense if we know LJ is going that Gus now signs on as we have more money to offer Gus

No we're not.

Trengove was good, but it wasn't up to the standard and class of Brayshaw.

I'd stack Trengove's first 2 years up comparatively against Brayshaw's.

I am not however saying I would take him over Brayshaw, but was responding to a post basically saying Tenners was a dud.

It is an interesting comparison though. Both started well, Angus had setbacks through concussion and looked close to finished at one stage. His comeback and development has been remarkable and a joy. Trenners first few years had him on track for something special, even if it would be solid and reliable special. Natural leadership and great work ethic. I saw him at Maroochydore one year in a moon boot and on a scooter still being involved in training, including doing push ups with the group. I rate Angus, but lament Trengove. Worse luck than the Greeks with Achilles tendion!

Fingers crossed that Angus  Brayshaw does indeed re-sign with the Melbourne Football Club.

He is vital to our culture and the overall leadership of the team. Angus is a pretty talented and inspirational player too!

There was a time during the current Melbourne cycle that goes back to before the premiership when the club was the toughest to beat in the fourth quarter. The Demons were not only hard to beat at any time but it was virtually impossible to get the better them when scores were close at three quarter time. It was only three or four years ago but they were fit, strong and resilient in body and mind. Sadly, those days are over. This has been the case since the club fell off its pedestal about 12 months ago after it beat Geelong and then lost to Carlton. In both instances, Melbourne put together strong, stirring final quarters, one that resulted in victory, the other, in defeat. Since then, the drop off has been dramatic to the point where it can neither pull off victory in close matches, nor can it even go down in defeat  gallantly.

  • CASEY: Footscray

At twenty-four minutes into the third term of the game between the Casey Demons and Footscray VFL at Whitten Oval, the visitors were coasting. They were winning all over the ground, had the ascendancy in the ruck battles and held a 26 point lead on a day perfect for football. What could go wrong? Everything. The Bulldogs moved into overdrive in the last five minutes of the term and booted three straight goals to reduce the margin to a highly retrievable eight points at the last break. Bouyed by that effort, their confidence was on a high level during the interval and they ran all over the despondent Demons and kicked another five goals to lead by a comfortable margin of four goals deep into the final term before Paddy Cross kicked a couple of too late goals for a despondent Casey. A testament to their lack of pressure in the latter stages of the game was the fact that Footscray’s last ten scoring shots were nine goals and one rushed behind. Things might have been different for the Demons who went into the game after last week’s bye with 12 AFL listed players. Blake Howes was held over for the AFL game but two others, Jack Billings and Taj Woewodin (not officially listed as injured) were also missing and they could have been handy at the end. Another mystery of the current VFL system.

The Demons head back out on the road in Round 10 when they travel to Queensland to take on the reigning Premiers and the top of the table Lions who look very formidable. Can the Dees cause a massive upset? Who comes in and who goes out?

Wayward kicking for goal, dump kicks inside 50 and some baffling umpiring all contributed to the Dees not getting out to an an early lead that may have impacted the result. At the end of the day the Demons were just not good enough and let the Hawks run away with their first win against the Demons in 7 years.
