Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thanks very much karthik!
I hope you're correct. I see no mention of it on the WatchAFL app visible in USA.

They did confirm it on Twitter. We should be good.

It's fantastic that KAYO customers can benefit from the telecast/streaming of the week 1 practice matches but what about for Foxtel customers who pay significantly more than KAYO customers.

Anyway, hopefully the MFC put the replay on its website by the Thursday night, or the game can be found on Youtube shortly after.

Anyone know the format? Will it be 4 quarters? Will we have large interchange benches? Will all the teams follow the same format or will it be agreed on the day by the participants? Any info appreciated.

Well no I didnt. Maybe not last time we had a similar match, but similar practice matches in the past, there have been 3 not 4 quarters and another time it was mainly not our top 18 who played. Both these factors are at play for me to decide whether to make an hour journey there and back tomorrow on a work day. It may be easier for you Daisy, being in Bennettswood (Thats the part of Burwood I am from originally. Burwood it seems can be Wattle park or the Burvale)

There's an explanation somewhere which I read

They said they will tailor the number and length of quarters to fit player loads. Expect better players in say first three sessions followed by fringe in next three with some players doing 4 sessions and some doing two. My guess is 15/20 minutes per session without time on.

Message therefore is get there on time if you want to see the stars

Drop Foxtel and just get Kayo. ☺️

I get the need to have a 7 day break into the Carlton AAMI game, but it would've been great to have this match as a double header leading into the Melb/North AFLW game on Saturday night.

Hopefully the club's website will show a full replay on Thursday night.

I think you're around three blocks further down the road than the AFL on cross promotion BBP. Great idea though.

they have already said they will make up their own rules on number or qrtrs, length of qrtrs, number of players and probably anything else they mutually agree on

Hope everyone remembers its a practice match only and nobody goes into a complete meltdown if we don't win - perhaps that's too much to ask

I'd like to think most of the young kids will get a taste and many of those who didn't play at the pointy end last year will get reasonable game time to put their case forward to selectors

If us as reigning Premiers cant beat North even in a practice match, stand back and watch the fireworks!

Around the Grounds for anyone remotely interested in the trial matches and it’s quarter-time at the Hangar.

Essendon 1.5-11 Bulldogs 2.4-16

Both teams close to full strength.

Interesting none of the first year players got selected.

How many quarters will they play? Probably only 4 by the look of the squad size.

Terrific to see Tomlinson getting a run. I'll be interested to see both how much time he gets and how he goes!

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
