Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Harris: Round , 1 goal; Round 2, 2 goals; Round 3, 3 goals...

Paxy, lots of tissues, yes, but pretty low on effectiveness this week. Right week to have a 'lapse' (as it turned out...)

afl.com gave here best for mfc.......but i'd disagree.....not one of her better games

Hmmm. Lot of people would love for Harris to fail.

She is playing humble at the minute, a bit too humble. But looking at how a selfless forward should play I am impressed. She is always meeting the footy. She is backing up when the ball is on the ground and she just competes in every contest.

She could have a bit more form in her marking I reckon but she has been a solid contributor to this excellent team.

Firstly, kudos to Tegan Cunningham on her design of this year’s MFC AFLW Pride guernsey.  I thought it looked not too overstated - just right.

We started off shakily in the conditions and finally overran them thanks to our superior fitness and run with that infamous Casey wind in the final quarter giving us a good ride to a percentage boosting win.

However, it must be of some concern that we are basically winning our matches off the back of a single quarter and we’re going to be more consistent next week against the Crows on their home deck.

Karen Paxman came good today and led the midfield. Our defence held up well and Tayla Harris and Kate Hore are dangerous up forward.

I think George on the Outer in his preview of the season was concerned about the team overdoing the handball. If they are going to handball as often as they’re doing then they need to work on it at training. It’s not just us but a feature of many of the games I’ve been watching that teams are coming unstuck with poor handball.

Still, a 41 point win after being level pegging at ¾ time can’t be sneezed at.

Not often do I say this, but I have to agree with DeeSpencer in regards to Paxman. She was slow to move the ball on, and when she did, she invariably took the wrong option.

Hanks is elite. Along with Monique Conti and Erin Phillips, she is the best kick in the comp.

Don’t underestimate Paxy’s experience.

Paxman doesn’t watch men’s AFL (or much football at all I think) and it shows. She has never been a very good decision-maker. Elite runner though and decent kick. Will go close to AA again probably but I’d pick Hanks before her every day of the week

The competition has caught up in a way that denies her some of what she's previously got away with, BUT I agree her experience and endurance are what will keep her in the game for a while yet. To me she looks rusty more than declining, but I admit that's a fine line!

I remember Daisy saying (of her own game) that she knows there are certain elements, certain little tricks that won't serve her as well as the competition develops, e.g., relying on knowing what a probably skill error will result in to read the play, as some of those will happen less and less frequently.

Some random thoughts:

Weird not seeing Mithen at the bottom of a pack a million times today!

Thanks to the footy gods for the Saints' inaccuracy...

That last quarter blitz was a delight but you wouldn't want to rely on that against the better teams. Slow starts are becoming a bit of an issue.

Big ups for Fitzsimons' game today. Taking strides every week and really loved her repeat efforts.

Harris could kick five and still have detractors, but where would we have been at half time without her?

Harris is looking unrecognisable compared to last season. Has improved her ground game enormously and is holding her contested pack marks again. Massive step up for our forward line.

We seem to have gone backwards this year on goal kicking accuracy. It was a big focus for improvement last season and worked but seems to have  gone backwards. Have to fix it. Hore has been off the last two games.

3 straight at the southern end; the problem was at the northern end. I stood in the shadow of the Big Black Box and the wind really swirls in that pocket. Also, many of the shots, partic in the 2nd, were from a distance or tight. 1.5 in the 2nd quarter was somewhat rectified to 6.5 in the 4th. So not 'backwards' from 2021, but room for improvement. Per my earlier post, some 'footy intelligence' 'learnings' to be had?

Last quarter reminiscent of September in Perth.

And the girls' '1964' ('9.10.64') final score reminiscent of Gus's grasp of the never-again-to-be-surrendered lead that hallowed day.

My post got deleted. Possibly because it was in the wrong thread.

As a paid up financial member of 26 years, player sponsor etc.

I need to ask the question.

How much are we paying Tayla Harris?

Very talented but has the football nouse of Nick Nat.

You have no idea about Harris or Nik Nat.

Although vs Crows will be a big indicator about our forward line structure and goal scoring options under greater pressure it's already apparent that Tayla is playing her part by marking., or bringing the ball to ground and just throwing her body into every contest.

similar to Tmac at times in the aFL Tayla clears space for smalls and crumbing forwards.

Reckon it's a master stroke to get her don't worry what she is getting paid it's all worth  it and the result is a quarter like our 2nd vs Tigers or our 4th vs Saints where the flood gates open with Daisy and others cashing in.

When  the game is tight also Taylah can use her elite marking to advantage as well.

Tayla is like Tmac or BBB and TeganC was like the Weid in presence etc. on our forward lines.

I wish Mick Stinear would teach the girls to kick the ball off the ground, rather than trying to pick it up and guarantee being tackled. ...except for Goldrick and Paxman who know when to do it and execute perfectly.

50 metre penalties are ridiculous in AFLW.

50m is the equivalent of two kicks. The penalty should be one kick, as in AFL for men.

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n
