Things are becoming more convoluted by the hour for the AFL and the continuation of the competition must be regarded as in jeopardy.

In a worst case scenario and the season had to be terminated now, if the AFL awarded the premiership to the top of the ladder team, would you accept it?

IF the season was abandoned, I suspect they would consider awarding the minor premiership (the McClelland trophy) but not a premiership.

I'd ruefully accept. It means nothing.

Will never happen but given that the top two teams are Victorian they'd at least be able to play a Grand Final. That would make it a little less hollow.

Woukd take it but Scott would protest so Gill may decide that “home wins” would be the winner.

Don’t really see the point in such a hypothetical, it simply would never happen. I think they’d play another round or two, have a break then have a shortened finals series.

Nope, it would never be taken seriously

Given that they managed to complete an NBA, MLB, NFL and NHL season in 2020 in a country that did so much worse than us, I can’t see how the AFL season gets called off.

The AFL and state governments are in bed with each other and will allow clubs to fly in at the drop of a hat. If you want to say goodbye to a loved one who lives interstate, well that’s another story.

I wouldn’t have felt fulfilled if we win last year. Full season, full quarters, full finals series. That’s a premiership.

In my view, the termination could happen between now and Grand Final Day. AFL don't need give anything but some compensation for the top 8 teams next season. Let's say 4 premiership points for 7th and 8th, 6 points for 5th and 6th, 8 points for 4th and 3rd, 10 points for 1st and 2nd. To make things a bit even, let 1st and 4th, 2nd and 3rd, 5th and 8th, 6th and 7th  have to play each other twice.

Hubs are more likely to be reintroduced.

It would not be accepted as a genuine premiership by any opposition supporters so it would never feel like a real premiership.

People questioned whether last year's premiership would have an asterisk against it. This would have a bullseye next to it.

I think the AFL's intent was made pretty clear yesterday when the Swans and Giants game went ahead. Come hell or high water this season will be completed

Meaningless thread, it just isn't going to happen this way.

This coming weekend last year we were going into Round 8 of a 17 Round season. This year we will be going into Round 19 of a 23 Round season. Last year the Grand Final was held on 24th October.

We are a good month ahead of where we were last season and they will find a way even if they have to postpone matches or even a whole round.

We could still yet maybe have the Festival of Footy like last year when there was a game virtually every night over a 2-3 week period if they can get clubs into all the right places to make it happen.

The AFL are now old hands at this - they will find a way.

Would you care? I wouldn't.

I don't question last year. Everyone playing to the board in front of them.

Sure, but it wouldn't satisfy the need..
