Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Our 2 biggest money-spinning games of the year

Hopefully the Alice game can be played later in the season. QB will need to be re-scheduled to later in the year (and hoping Covid is back under control) or else played inter-state. The Big freeze is a big drawcard so if moved inter-state can still attract a large crowd, circa 30,000+ in Adelaide perhaps, so could still generate a reasonable financial outcome or at least cushion the blow.

Still can't work out why they don't move the Melbourne v Collingwood game to the following round when both teams have the bye. There's some reasonable chance they will be able to play at the MCG in front of crowds by then. At worst, they do what they would otherwise do.

The Vic state government is the architect of this farce, and as such should bear the financial responsibility.

As posted in Alice thread, NTAFL believe we will still have a game here, should help bottom dollar

Yes but at the expense of robbing us members of attending yet another home game. I’m all for playing in the NT instead of playing one of our other interstate matches, but I would hate to give up an MCG home game for an NT game, even tho I understand we need the money.

Not necessarily robbing you if you aren’t allowed to attend, regardless, may not happen, just passing on info, but if it does happen, surely members will get a make up game

The other thing that may not gave been mentioned is that even though we had the gates for the tigers match it was reduced capacity so it was nowhere near the usual money spinner. So two years in a row we have been screwed out of our usual big games.

just throwing an idea out there re: Alice. If things don’t get better hubs might be back on the agenda (even if it’s temporary), I would really push Alice as a location for a hub that features us. Could be a way of getting our Alice money back while not being the only team giving up home games.

I'd be trying to get Queens Birthday at Adelaide Oval - both from a financial sense but also given we played ordinary there last time and have Port back there on the run home it'd be good to get another run on that deck.

I'd then be trying to push the Hawks game to Alice later in the season. Hawks are rubbish and their fans aren't turning up so the gate take will be ordinary anyway. The other reason for the Hawks game and not GWS is that I'd rather play Gold Coast on the back of Alice than Port at Port.

If we can't move that game then so be it. Keep winning games and the $$$ will look after itself

Huge $$ hit. Good suggestion about moving the money games forward.

On a positive note Gus and Gawny very entertaining this week. The co star was ANB .  Got a few laughs out of it.

Backward not forward !!! The Bug Freeze blockbuster.

It was our home game at the Gabba

That's not the Blockbuster game in 2020 that we get each 2 years now.
That's  why we retained the 2 big games Anzac Eve and QB again.

Might be better if we have a game just low key and get a big QB next year and the split means that we have the blockbusters one per year and finances are more stable each year.

This timing couldn’t be worse for us but being top of the ladder and a great chance of a flag will do wonders for our bottom line. Extra memberships and sponsorships will compensate for the loss of gate receipts.

The best financial objective for us at the moment is to keep winning games of footy.

You would think if we play home finals that it will make up the loss.

I actually don’t know what the financial return is for finals matches, I suppose us not being involved in many for a while has made me not really care. But do home teams get the gate takings? Does it go to the AFL and then portion goes to competing teams?

I remember Hawthorn stating that for one of their premiership they made a small loss as staff, player and marketing costs were well up.  Its the next year through increased membership that you make the money.

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.
