Based off absolutely nothing, I think this is Pettys manager trying to get a better deal for Petty at the Dees. Melbourne isnt trading Petty this year. And if we dont trade him I suspect a contract extension announcement will be happening before Kings Birthday next year.

He isnt going anywhere, but if the Dees somehow is able to pull it off I will never stop laughing.
