GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs North Melbourne

Never completely place your trust in Melbourne. Not now. Not ever.

I still think we’ll win but Jesus we need about ten players to pull their finger out to pull this off.

Just when you think you can trust them..

Fmd Melbourne.

[censored] ****house they are bathwater [censored] can't be trusted. Gawn has been putrid. Cunnington and Goldstein tearing us apart.

Brown looks a mile off. Not sure our forwardline is mobile enough with him in.. and when was the news broken about Tom McDonald being a late out?

All the positive indicators of this game that makes me nervous. The word ‘upset’ was invented for these kind of games. All other sides have produced a shocker this season except us.

Bump

Well i guess the fans who backed against the Dees as insurance have the consolation of some winnings. And whoever backed North to win by 40 will be [censored] all over themselves

Is something wrong with Gawn?? He looks like Jake Spenser our there

T Mac HAS to go to defence and free up Lever

Hahahaha all you fools who thought this was going to be a smashing. Hahahaha you have learnt nothing from this joke of a club.

Oh do cram it.

I'm not watching and I don't want to follow the game via this thread as I've learnt over the years it's always extremely negative.

But a quick look at the score and stats tells me all I really need to know.

North's only kicked two scores higher than this in their first six games, and it's only half time. They've won both quarters despite having only won six quarters across their first six games. They have the top five possession getters and 8 of the top 11. They're on top in CPs and clearances, they're +21 in uncontested marks, they're +7 in inside 50s, and they've taken 9 marks inside 50 to our 2.

This screams workrate. Not winning it inside, not stopping them spreading it outside, therefore not getting it in our forward half.

Again, I haven't watched a second of footage, but I'm sure this is Cairns 2020-esque.

Im very critical of Goodwin but this is purely about our midfielders not working hard enough. Oliver and Brayshaw need to lift a lot.

Do we have a winner on the ground? Kozzie doing his big bit can’t think of another

Ed's been good.  Spargo not too bad in patches. LJ good also.  Has Tmac had a possession?

The rest are asleep at the wheel.  That kick from Tracc running into an open goal and instead goes short straight to a Norf player in the pocket.  I've been saying all year...sort that shiiit out!  Go for goal when all options look covered.  Its costing us so many potential goals after alot of hard work only to see the ball turned over or rushed for a point.

Loss of Viney pre game (oh to have named Sparrow as an emergency) and Tomlimson a few mins in has rooted our structure. Add to that our sharpness and effort being off we are in strife. Big big lift needed in 2nd half.

Worst half of footy we have payed for the season.

Melk should play in Casey for a fair few games from next week.

Only 10 ?

Hibberd to cunnington. Kozzie in the middle, petracca fwd

I'd like to at least see that

Cunnington getting 400 possessions every time we play them is infuriating

They can’t be trusted

  • THE STATS FILES: St. Kilda

As part of the effort to trim the runtime of the regular podcast, we’ve been looking at which segments could be reshaped without losing what makes them valuable. One segment that naturally came into focus was Binman’s Stats Files. Not because it isn’t important; quite the opposite. It’s become such a substantial and much-loved part of the show that it deserves a little room to breathe.

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

One of the big stories of the AFL off-season was the spending spree of Melbourne’s Round 1 opponent, St Kilda. They splashed out heavily, first to retain Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera - the hero of last year’s epic come-from-behind miracle victory -turning him into a $2 million man. They then effectively took out an expensive overdraft to recruit a string of expensive players from other clubs. It was a risky investment strategy and, although it’s still early days, it certainly failed to pay off in Sunday’s season opener, with much of the glitter turning to fool’s gold.

Never in doubt!!! In Steven King’s first game at the helm of the Melbourne Football Club, the Dees outlasted Saints in a wild, momentum-swinging thriller at the MCG, running out 13-point winners.
