Brayshaw just spoke on the podcast about Majak. Said he trained with him yesterday and while he's had a few months off AFL training he's got a fair bit of work to do by the sounds of it in terms getting up to standard fitness. Sounds like he was blowing hard a fair bit.

Also said that he'll be training for the next 3 weeks.

I think if he's to be added to the list, a decision has to be made by 9 March, which is just under three weeks away.

Turner very surprised you are not giving Tommy the benefit of the doubt now that he has done what Goody or Club agreed with him to do.

Hr us much lighter and should be much more fitter and move better than the last 2, seasons.

His pre season is promising along with his training yet you are bagging him as hopeless almost wishing him to fail. Far from supportive given his efforts so far.

Daw's one good (very good) year at North was as a key/intercept backman. He had little impact as a forward and ruck in the other 10? yrs he was there.
If MFC think he can fill a ruck and/or forward roll, they are not considering his history at North, just his size.
Having said that, I was surprised they delisted him as he didn't play in defence after returning from injury last year, and there's no harm (and minimal cost) having him on our list.

But his value is as a backman.

You're correct about limited downsides. I see Daw - with our now superior coaching array - being absolutely vital. He marks going forward, sideways and backwards with no evidence of fear or hesitation; he can kick (short and long) with reliability and is good with set shots at goal; he can run lively players down, and tackle with great skills; he moves to position without tagging due to his long gait, matched with some speed and sound reading of the play; he keeps his 'eyes up' with teammates to dispose the ball to best advantage; with thoughtful coaching and deployment, he could be in the elite class.

I see him as a potential gun at CHF/ Full Back / FF and even as a chop in the ruck, all despite his years. His physical presence terrifies most opponents and can be a clearance/space creator at the same time. He's better than TMac, Weed and a few other trusted ones. With player support and mozzie runners, he'd be an enormous asset for the Dees.

I'd reckon that on and into the forward line, Daw and BB will have some unique understandings and histories that would work most assuredly to our advantage.

If I can add more weight to this arguement. I was super impressed with him today for all reasons provided above. One other factor is that given his rehab from serious injury he doesnt have any associated gait issues, which often will put pressure on other parts of the body. He looked confident, has really good skills set, and was excellent below his knees. For a Big man that's a plus! He would be the "Ultimate" big man back up and maybe, just maybe might play more than we all think! 

I would be astounded if we didn't pick him up based on what I saw today!!

As much as I admire your confidence and optimism comrade, "gun" may be a case of gilding the lily.

Don't forgot that a struggling North Melbourne delisted him and no other club was interested.

Hopefully your prediction is spot on, but I wouldn't be betting the farm on it.

I wouldn't say I've been a fan from afar with Daw but last year was a particularly tough year for him in many ways. For him to even get back out on the park was a bloody good achievement. I would suggest that clubs were cautious about where his mind was at and whether AFL was what he really wanted. If he gets his chance with us I see him as coverage, but who knows!

Daw turns 30 next week so hopefully he realises his potential soon! He has been tried forward and mostly failed, lacking the footy smart imo.  he is a solid backman though

Game time when underdone is the fastest way to get injured too! A solid block of training before his first hit out helps prevent injury

Didn't I read somewhere that clubs are limited to three unlisted players to add to their training group? If that's true, and I'm sure someone here will know, does that mean if Declase has been added, one of Daw, Farmer or Smith have gone?

false, the SSP thread said 6 (not sure how accurate) but richmond had 5 when mansell, egg, josh green and gallucci and the other lad whose name escapes me were all training

I don’t think he’s needed if T Mac and Jackson are in the same side. T Mac and Jackson as our key forwards with the latter rotating with Gawn.

Then BBB and Weid should be back from about round 4 or 5.

I understand he was in a midfield group before training started yesterday doing ruck work with Max, Harmes, and Bradke. After that he was in rehab group which included Ben Brown, and Sam Wiedermen. Interesting to say te least!

I assume getting his technical stuff going like tap work and system on where to tap followed by trying to get some fitness into him without blowing him up in the main group.

He is the longest of long shots for mine, but good luck to him.

PF stated clearly that in his report on training, he was very impressed with what Daw was producing at this point and this might suggest that he is further down the rocky road of comeback than all of us imagined.
