Stepping down immediately.

He has made a lot of mistakes when it comes his biases on a whole range of issues.

Nonetheless, it is a shame that someone who has spent 25 years in a volunteer capacity to make his club a success and made such a difference to football is going out on such a low note.

Sure he has feathered his own nest along the way but still he has contributed a lot on so many fronts.

I agree with the sentiment. Unfortunately for Eddie he was a very poor listener.

And he's gone. What a fantastic day for footy. Good riddance

Say what you will about him.

When we were on our knees, he gave us the gate takings for Queens Bday for more than 5 years in a row..

But lets never forget his crowning moment!!

Absolute witch hunt claims another victim. Don't dare make a mistake or be imperfect.

Sad day.

Should have been shown the door after the King Kong comment.
He still doesn’t get it

Well, at least C'wood now has some chance of developing a culture befitting the 21st century.

Just one little slip-up and everyone piled on.

Edit:  please turn on your sarcasm filter, everyone.  I thought the boggly-eyed-tongue-out face would be the giveaway!

At least he's still got hosting Millionaire to get him out of the house.

Nope, not even close. Made a massive misstep with Goodes, oversaw a club that was proven to be racist after that, and then called it ‘a proud day’.

He has lost his ability to read the room. They had no choice but to push him out.

Its understandable that people will come for Eddie, he is a big boy, he is answerable for his mistakes. I Wonder when the people that he has helped, done a lot for, raised money for, made their life better will step up and go into bat for him.

Hope they do, because there will be lots of them.

They've been going into bat for him over and over and over already.  There's only so far you can go on the plaudits for being the person sitting in the chair that decides who gets the goodies.

Have Collingwood really been that much more generous than any other club, or have they just done a lot more publicity about it?

Watch out Albenese. Eddie is comming for your job.

Surprised it took this long. There would have been a queue of sponsors lining up at The Holden Centre demanding his resignation.

That's what's got him in the end and Nike would have been at the front of the queue.

Too many mistakes over too many years any one of which would have caused anyone other then Eddie to be sacked.

Has cheapened footy with his numerous conflicts of interest as a caller and commentator and his uncontrolled mouth.

No loss.

That funny Nike's biggest name of all time don't mind redneck buying his air Jordans

  • AFLW REPORT: Gold Coast

The forecast said wind. The ladder said mismatch. The scoreboard said obliteration. Melbourne didn’t just beat Gold Coast — they dismantled them: 13.15 (93) to 0.6 (6). An 87-point obliteration, the Suns held goalless, and the Demons delivering their second-highest winning margin and third-highest score in AFLW history.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #28 Will Verrall

It was a tough ask for him to break through as a 199cm ruckman in the shadow of an all-time great in that position who is also the club captain. He had some good days at Casey but was unable to progress and was delisted at the end of the season.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #29 Tom Campbell

The 33-year-old Campbell has yet to play AFL football for Melbourne, but his Casey form has been strong and he has been retained as a ready-made ruck depth option who is widely regarded as someone who is excellent for the culture of the club.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #30 Harry Sharp

The Demons acquired an interesting player in Sharp, who narrowly missed securing a spot in the Lions’ premiership team last year. The 22-year-old medium forward played in the opening round this season and ended up with 18 senior games, although he was substituted in or out in for ten of those matches. He demonstrated glimpses of form, but ultimately ended the year on the margins of the team.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #31 Bayley Fritsch

Worked his way back after a slow start and a further slump in form going into the midseason but became a solid contributor for the club in the latter half of 2025. Closing in on 300 goals for the club.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Gold Coast

On Friday, the Demons return to our Casey Fields fortress where they have a 77% win rate. The scent of September is in the air and the struggling Suns are on the horizon. The Cranbourne weather forecast? Ominous, like the match itself: a strong chance of carnage. Let’s be honest, last week’s first half against the West Coast was a training drill but we dropped our guard in the final quarter. While this match is a mismatch on paper — second versus seventeenth — football is won in the wind, the contests, and the moments.
