Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I would hate being married to football club.

Very similar to marriage OD. All the same emotions, irrational behaviour, arguments, passions, praise, criticisms, joy, despair. And increasingly often these days, separation and divorce. With others choosing loyalty against all the odds.

Should've been selected in the finals over a fellow second ruck who kept getting selected despite a poor season.

They were keeping his value up at all costs.

I’d much prefer keeping Weiderman & push Ben Brown into an early retirement

Browns performance late in the year was very poor & should’ve been dropped

Weideman had a good game in the 2018 finals

BBB kicked 3 in last year's final so he's got about another 4 years to equal the time they have given Weideman to repeat the dose

Weideman should persist and do a pre-season in a ruck role, and if he gets his chance next year rotate with Gawn as ruck-forward. If the tactics or methods next year improves with not bombing it in into 50 and lower their eyes more often and actually hit up leads he could be more than handy. He's a pretty acurate set-shot, more reliable than Gawn anyway 😁

If we def knew he was going, we'd have gotten more out of the Weed. Jackson played us.

Strangely failed to crack the top ten of Casey's B&F (congrats to Jimmy Munro by the way).

For comparison, JVR finished sixth in the count and finished with the same number of games and goals for the year.

EDIT: Weid only played 11 games this season for Casey. Misread the stat page!

11 games to JVR 18. Yes probably should have cracked the top 10, but it’s 60% more games.

Coaches obviously don’t value his input equally.

Apologies, misread the stats page. Has games from both 2021 and 2022 listed.

The weid has had ample time to make it. Move on people. If he goes he goes, if he stays he plays for Casey.

How do you know.

He played one of the best spoiler roles I've seen in a game where his role was pivotal in stopping run on against a team that kicked something like six goals in the last 15minutes of a prelim. That's not penny andy kids stuff.

Rucking is tough when your always the smaller protagonist.

Can’t believe how many people are still hanging onto a few good games he played 4 years ago now. He’s had so many opportunities to cement a spot and failed at every turn so much so Melksham had to come in and play the role. Safe to say even Goodwin who is the last to give up on any player has also run out of patience. I think the club would be more than happy to use his spot on the list to bring in another kid via the draft if anyone showed any interest in taking him off our hands.

BBP

If LJ was that poor why was he in the first ruck for a lot of games in the last half of the season.?

Because Gawny was injured from QB on.
LJ was not poor but his round the ground work rate and failure to mark first grab was crucial to those performances.

But to say he played us is unfair as he also had some issues with his calf till the end of the season.

If the revolution was lead by committee one wonders what would emerge from the train wreck.

Fortunately those charged  with the responsibility for running the club are by and large professional competent people. Far removed from the proletarian ruck.

If faith is continued to be shown in players like Sam Weiderman despite his long gestation. And the ugly duckling turns out to be a swan.

Those howling for his blood on the Place de la Concorde of the web waves(DL) may well be truly disappointed.

The guy is 197cm.  Too small for an AFL level ruck.  Only got the job at Casey after Daw retired.

2023 will be his 8th season at the club.  And people still think he can be turned into something.

Would it be fair to say the ruckmen that succeed around that height really need to be the athletic running ruckmen eg. Goodes, White, Stynes, P Moore?

Yes, or you have to be physically strong like Mumford, Lade, Natanui.

Point is today 197cm alone is not enough, especially when you come up against Witts, Natanui, English, Reeves, Lobb & Cox.

We need to keep Weid next year.  He'll play 2nd ruck games when Max or Grundy are out rested or injured.  We're not going to entice a better back-up ruck option to join us behind those two.  We need to draft a ruck prospect.

Would easily get a better back up.  And it happens every year that back up rucks move clubs.

If we get Grundy I have no problem with Weid being our back up.  But we then run the risk of if both he and Gawn get injuries then our ruck is Weid,  which I don't like.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
