It really is a nothing story but to be honest I never got why footy players/athletes were prone to this kind of behaviour. Combined with the desire to dress in women's clothes for "player review" type functions and it seems there's a lot of repressed stuff going on there

It's a different situation to Richmond's.

It's still stupid.

But that's not the issue. The issue is whether Hunt and Petracca were properly listening to Goodwin or just mucking around.

I have been saying it for years dd just because you can play football does not make you a rocket scientist.

Exhibit A: Luke Hodge saying he doesn't like the shortened game, he  just doesn't like the 90 minute game. Much prefers the old hour and a half game...

Exactly.

Nothing to see here with this.

Yes and no. I would think [censored] farting around during 3 qtr time while the coach is delivering his message is disrespectful. Its no wonder we went to sleep that last quarter.

Sums up our year as well.

I said this somewhere else but seeing as we aren’t a big club you can expect us to probably cop fines and/or suspensions for this.
That way the AFL can make it seem like they are reacting to this whilst not hurting a club they care about.

Maybe Gooodwins final message was “okay boys, give each other a pinch on the bum and get back out there”!

Well then at least the players are buying into it.... ?‍♂️

Clearly, it's no big deal, but it gives ammunition to the professionally aggrieved.  They'll love it and use their soapbox.

Exactly - no big deal but after the carry on in the Richmond rooms then anyone with half a brain wouldn't do it - therein lies the answer.

Yes it goes on and on proving the point.

I wish AFL media would steer clear of commentary designed to incite what the public should be outraged about every week

I don’t really care about an [censored] squeeze or the finger up the date, but the worst bit is it is at 3 quarter time with our season on the line. Of course Essendon piled on a few goals straight after that very break as well.

When did fingering your mate's balloon knot become a thing? I really have no idea why it's done and why people defend it. It's not normal in any way

All media for that matter.
Parasites that they are.

At least they're generally a few rungs up the ladder from the NRL guys.

click bait = charge more for advertising = more revenue for the media

its what they are all about nowadays

You've never been to Sydney I assume Redbeard?

My main issue here is the skylarking during the coaches address at 3/4 time before our most important quarter of the season.

Sure we had a healthy lead and looked like we were going to cruise to victory but we have this habit of going to sleep and not being switched on and then we concede multiple goals.

Now I’m beginning to see why.

This issue of not being switched on needs to be addressed in 2021.

Didn’t someone of note at Melb, recently say the club needed to grow up... hhhmmmm.

Now I know why Hunt is such an accurate and composed goal kicker. He practises hard to get on target. And CP5 has also improved markedly  in finding the goals.

That's not very high HT!

more annoyed that they are not listening to the coach.

Mind-boggling stupidity and lack of professionalism and respect.

They’re at work.
They've been explicitly told not to do it.
They did it anyway.

AFL doesn’t like it, sponsors don’t like it and members (as it was leading into the most important quarter of the year) don’t like it.

Gives an insight into some players focus and mindset.  If we’ve ever wondered how we don’t turn up to play in big matches or drop the easy ones...

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
