This one is a bit different. There is something clearly NQR with Hogan, sure if he gets to the tigers turns his life around and lives up to his potential it will hurt. But he certainly isn't moving at the top of his game and he hasn't got too many teams lining up for him.

Freo virtually trying to give him away says it all.  Had his chances and blew them all away. It would be a very brave AFL list manager that takes him on. Massive risk.

Sad and disappointing.  Yes, some personal issues over which he had no control but has made some bad choices subsequently.

A player 2 clubs haven’t been able to get the best out of, 25yrs old and didn’t show a huge amount this season. Sure he’ll win 3 flags before he’s done. 

He was ready to play a long time before he got a game this year.  I read a report saying Freo didn't play him so that he would not reach the trigger points in 2021 to extend his contract on bigger $ into 2022 and beyond.

Once they changed coaches Longmuir didn't have the same ownership of the Jesse decision that Lyon had.  Maybe as a young coach he isn't in a position to put in the time and energy needed to get the best from Jesse. 

Maybe at the 'right' club he can deliver more than he has in recent years.  Richmond or Sydney could be that club. 

There would be something difficult to swallow about him going to Richmond, it may be because I feel his breakout game came against the tigers in the ANZAC eve match where he beat Rance. 

I also feel that with Richmond they’d have a free hit with him, not dissimilar to Bennell with us which until the fine at end of the year cost us nothing. They have Lynch and Reiwoldt so they aren’t desperate for it to happen.

I want him to rebuild his life wherever that may be, if Richmond can do that, as much as it would suck for us Dees fans, I’d be happy for him.

Look how Williams turned Dusty around....could be the culture works!

The Dockers obviously think he is surplus to needs. Not a good look 2 years after getting him from us, on the back of 5 years of begging and tempting him. 
 

at his best, Jesse is an absolute jet.  Should be commanding Jeremy Cameron Type interest.  Yet the bulldogs who need a forward are into Mason Cox instead? Rated behind dodgy hips Daniher? Must be something really stinky.

I do wish him good fortune, but he has gone backwards fast.

I feel for him, as he had to deal with some horrible stuff with his fathers death and then his own subsequent illness and fitness. It seems now he's well into the gear to the point where he might not be in the game beyond age 25. Very sad and another talented Melbourne player whose potential went unrealised.

I lost mine in my mid-20s and my career is going along great guns.

I wish we'd all stop making this excuse for him.

Did you also get cancer yourself in the months after your father died from cancer?
Did you have the media always watching and photographing your recreational activities? 
Did you have other pressures from your job playing out publicly?
Did you have other health issues directly related to your job impeding you?
Did you have family pressures forcing you to relocate while experiencing health issues and trauma?

Jesse has made poor choices for sure, and his career will likely be cut short as a result. Your comments however are a bit misguided and insensitive.

THE LATEST ON JESSE HOGAN

Former Collingwood recruiter Matt Rendell believes troubled Fremantle forward Jesse Hogan is set for a big move east.

 

Rendell told Trade Radio he believed Hogan would end up at Greater Western Sydney in 2021.

 

"I believe it's a fait accompli. That's my strong mail," he said.

 

It would be Hogan's third club after stints with Melbourne and the Dockers.

Not true. having mental health issues doesn't mean someone lacks "Mental toughness" Jesse is incredibly tough and determined. 

Hogan to GWS probably doesn't help a TMac trade, which according to reports could then facilitate both Brown and Isaac Smith coming to the Dees.

GWS may be a good match. Those boys (Mummy, Lachie, etc) do like to party!

This is an incredibly hurtful position to take.

People deal with loss in different ways. People grieve in different ways.

If you managed to move on from your father's death and get to a point where your career is going well, hats off to you.

But the fact you were capable of that doesn't mean everyone else should be as well. 

A "just get over it" attitude like this is not helpful.

Of course, Hogan's off-field issues may or may not have been impacted by his Father's death or his brief cancer episode.  

They may be completely separate to each other.  Or they may not.  

In essence, all the club can do is make decisions on what his behaviour actually entails.  

Clearly, we've benefited from the decision to trade him and there's absolutely nothing to suggest he's improved his off-field behaviours.  It appears worse, although it's well-known Melbourne did a good job protecting the player and the club's image while he was here.

I'm only interested in the best interests of the club and they don't appear to be best served by revisiting the past with Hogan.  In fact, we've made our decision.

The Anonymity of Sydney, for AFL Players, would suit Jesse. Now or never. I wish him well.

That's not true.

He's a different unit but so are buddy, dusty, Ablett and a host of others.
