Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Tracc should take him under his wing to fix his kicking

I'd be getting Melky. Trac's ball drop is too high. It's not that dissimilar from Langdon's, but Trac kicks it much flatter. Langdon kicks them up and under. Melksham's ball drop is low and less can go wrong.

yep, his kicking is too much up and under. i'm sure that could be coached out, but at least he doesn't shank the ball too often.

We actually have a plethora of coaches who should be addressing these issues. ?

It's not.

He doesn't get sucked into the contest and helps stretch our opponents' defence both at stoppages and in general play by making sure he's wide enough to be useful without being too far away.

Think Ed has been awesome.. he run he spreads, it is exactly what we needed.. he has his issues with ball use, but so does Dangerfield.. so its all relative, we got him to run and provide an option outside to widen teh ground, he has done that and he is not a timid wingman either, he is tough and i think he has been a great pick up.

So, rather than my suggestion that "keeping his width" is a meaningless phrase, we now have two meanings for it.

Yeah he's been really good for a second rounder and he hopefully can give us a further 6 solid years at the club. He gives us a bail out option out wide that we haven't really enjoyed in recent years.

I was really excited we targeted him last year and he hasn't disappointed.

He has a  case of the goal kicking yips (0.5) so would be keen to break the drought shortly.

Some of those misses have been from within 15m out. He needs to slow down as he kicks, its too hurried.

I get tired just watching him play. Amazing endurance, don’t think I’ve ever seen him with hands on knees.

I love his confidence to use his speed. He simply believes he can outrun anyone and just cruises past or away from an opponent.

A pleasure to watch. With the great stan alves number too.

You should have been highlighting the part of TU's post that said "He doesn't get sucked into the contest and helps stretch our opponents' defence". It's definitely the same thing and a pretty common sporting term. EPL uses it all the time.

Yeah, gets used in other sports all the time and is definitely not meaningless.

Langdon was again one of our best. An excellent recruit.

His run and run and endeavour is fantastic. He created a goal for Fritsch by having a 2nd and 3rd and 4th contest.

I love his outside run. His pace. He takes it in. I love that he gains metres and propels us forward.  He has 180 kicks 110 handballs and creates.

Improvements? - lower his eyes to hit a target - goalkicking accuracy (and no more kick ins)

He is one hell of a player is Langdon...

Keep saying it each week, his work rate is ridiculously through the roof.

Can anyone think of a player we've had who's been willing to gut run every single week? Steven Tingay is the best I can think off?

In Langdons post game interview on Ch 7 with Richo and James Brayshaw, he said specifically he came back home to play on the  G.  He said unfortunately its the Gabba for this year but the wide open space on that ground suit him also. A great answer I thought.

Richo also said during his brilliant gut run in the final 1/4 leading to a goal that that effort took just as much courage to do  at the end of a game as putting your head over the ball.

Highly complimentary of a player who sems to be quiet and just loves running and linking. Many teams won't have a match up for him .

Love Langdon's work this year.  Great move recruiting him.

His field kicking is really quite good and I rarely see him turn it over in general play.  His erratic goal kicking and work inside 50 is his one Achilles heal - if he could polish up that part of his game, he would be the ultimate weapon for his wing role.

Perhaps Langdon and Hunt should partner up for the next preseason.  Langdon could push Hunt to new levels of aerobic fittness, teach him where to run and Hunt could teach Langdon goal kicking.

This bloke has been a revelation, so glad we got him! And also quite a different personality to the average: nice to have a slightly eccentric individual in the team.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
