Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Paradoxically, I'd still play Weideman deep and keep Tom roaming. Weideman is starting to look dangerous deep and will begin to worry defenders the more his confidence grows

Weid is good as a deep frwd but we definately need someone who can come down the ground and clunk 6 or 7 marks so the idea of tmac deep is probably an idea to consider with Jackson out. Otherwise I cant see a place for Tmac.

So after a game where we get smashed around stoppages, smashed on the spread, smashed in transition, and smashed in skills, let's blame a guy who's 6'4.  Makes sense.

Every player needs to play their role. If anybody doesn't play their part it lets the team down.

TMacs been out of form for the best part of two years now.

Its just not good enough and we can’t afford to keep gifting him games until he is absolutely banging down the door with consecutive great performances in the twos.

We have to try guys like M. Brown and Joel Smith in his position until Jackson is ready to return.

Not sure why Joel smith hasn't been tried in the fwd line. He is rubbish in the backline but looked great in last year's pre season in the fwd line. One of the bizarre goodwin decisions

Because he won’t be at the club next year

We can finally agree on something.

I know you think you're the missing forward coach we've needed but you really over do it.

It's a simple game ,over-complicated by off-field handicappers who are no longer able to physically play it.

Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar.

Joke warning AF.  I would not want to ask you for directions if I was lost.

Think we are stuck with TMac for the moment as we need a backup ruck and we don’t want Weid playing that role now that he has clicked as a KPF. Can Brown ruck? Don’t know. Interestingly seeing the Dogs use Dunkley for boundary throw-ins to some effect I wonder if we couldn’t think outside the square on the backup ruck issue. Wonder if we are going to keep playing AVB, he could play the Dunkley roll in the forward part of the ground?

Mitch Cleary on the AFL site suggesting Tom should look elsewhere next year. Mentioned Essendon and Collingwood as possible homes. Based this on the presumption that we do not want him as we picked Preuss against Freo. Says he still has something to offer, cited the fact he kicked 4 goals in a semi final in 2018. Clearly has not done his research or seen Tom play this or last year.

So there you go, maybe some good will come out of this year after all!

I think it’s a good move for player and club.

He’s seemed very disgruntled for the last 18 months and I’m not sure there is a clear role for him at the Dees.

If, as suggested, he was asked to put on 10kg to play as a bigger stay at home forward, the club owes him an apology. His strength was his tank and they took that away from him

Their welcome to have him.

Hope he plays some more footy. Probably best as a defender. Just not at Mfc.

Tom was a great endurance athlete, probably still is.

Something physically happened to him, foot, back, hips that has ruined his agility and flexibility. Fatally.

I also get the impression he's a big sook and is a confidence player more than anything.

His career has been cruelled by injury. He is obviously not fit. If Burgess can’t get him right then I’m not sure anyone can. Hawthorn have a lot of faith in their medical team so perhaps they might take the chance. Very sad to see as I like Tmac.

Would still like Tmac to be tried at CHB before we part ways or consider that a possibility.

At This  Stage of the season Goody should be trying Brown down back Tommy at CHB or leave him in the ruck ad he offers more than Pruess in that second rival role and Joel Smith up forward!

He  owes it to himself as coach not to be too stereotyped about players ( and stubborn) and also as an opportunity to the players to develop and succeed.

We know the definition of insanity and Goody is one it it's disciples based on his lack of dare and flexibility in selections.

That was also what I meant to post and got sidetracked.

I sure hope we get that news very soon...

So R Jay you don't think Pickett has a future?

Really we are damned if we do or even if we don't sometimes

That is a great show of faith in an 18/19 yo and will reaffirm confidence in him.

Yes he has faults but look at the 2018 Riding star at the Pies he has had a rough nearly 2 years since.

We are too easily impatient With  youth!!!

Does anyone actually rate this guy? Don't think I've ever seen a slower footballer in my life

Short memory !!

Think of Tommy's  2018 season no lack of pace opened up on the wing on occasions.

Burgess needs to have a look and see why he can do I feel unless his body is totally wrecked.

We can only hope he sorts his body out. It's his lateral agility that seems to have gone.

No value in a trade and still might come good.

Sorry if this has already been mentioned, but does anyone know his contract status?

The two attributes are interrelated not mutually exclusive.

Depends on how you define ability.

I define is as talent

Injury and condition impacts on your capacity to optimize your ability.

Take Tiger Woods.  Arguably the greatest  golfer ever. Certainly close tot he most talented golfer ever.

Went fourteen years without a major in large part because of a chronic back injury. Didn't play competitive golf or more than 3 years. He didn't lose his talent in that time, thought of course he is closing in on 45 so getting older and won the masters.

At his age Tmac should be at the peak of his career as a power forward. It has is very unlikely he has lost his ability. Confidence yes, injury can do that (just look a Lever coming back after his knee injury), but talent and ability no.

He is clearly hampered by injury, chronic or otherwise.

I should be amazed, but am not, that so few seem to be acknowledging this seemingly evident fact (on here and worse football commentators and so called analysts who express confusion as to what has happened to him).

TMac is a defender if I have ever seen one.

He is fools gold as a power forward.

He kicked goals in 2018 finishing off amazing pre-6,6,6 midfield pressure dominance. He did great! But he was always a trumped up swingman.

Poor bugger should be an AA defender right now.

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
