Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

If he's serious about reuniting his AFL career, it would be a good test of our player welfare abilities.

He's hired a personal trainer and is apparently very fit. Won't be his body that stops him getting on a list.

Do the DD and let's get him!

As does everyone. But I would also bet that Clarrie is far more smarter (which he is) then Murray in the upstairs department

Oliver's mates in Shepp are a lot different crowd to the ones Murray hangs out with up here. Only just 3 weeks ago did one get done for doing a break in and around local businesses and was found with a bag of meth at his disposal.

His destiny is way way west....????

I don't know much about him or if he passes the NDH test.  But we reportedly had some interest in him a few weeks ago so I assume he passes (or perhaps he didn't pass so we lost interest).

He is still available as a Delisted Free Agent and we have the list spots.

Or we can get him as a rookie in the supplementary draft that goes from Dec-Mar.

if he is available take him. this guy will be hungry to play and get back to AFL football. We need players hungry to play, not just feeling they are safe because our list is thin.  He now knows what the downside of his bad behavior he is very unlikely to do it again.

As much as one can ever tell from a newspaper article, he does seem to have "learned his lesson" and be full of remorse.

As others have said, his hunger could (if genuine and ongoing) lift him to greater heights.

Low cost maybe worth at least a psychoanalysis?

It’s interesting hearing the conversations about Murray and Bennell citing the idea of no bad influences at the club. Fact is that these guys are in this situation for a reason, otherwise they’d already be on a list.

At some stage a club needs to take on the responsibility of giving them another chance and I would imagine both Murray and Bennell will be hungry for the opportunity.

I would be up for our club giving one of them that shot.

He’s looking super-fit. I’m only suspicious because the Pies delisted him not too long before his suspension was due to expire.

Maybe it's as simple as they have his role covered.

Don't know, Ethan.

I do know that he and Bennell have deep issues beyond fitness that are not easily overcome, issues that we don't know enough about, that the club will be weighing up and looking for a match with whst we have. If we draft Young do we need Murray? Is Bennell worth putting through a preseason before selection when Geelong or other clubs might grab him as a DFA?

Unfortunately, or perhaps fortunately, we leave these decisions up to the club

Chuck him on the MFC Basics Card to make sure he doesn't spend his money on gambling, booze or drugs you say? ?

The question is how do you reconcile bringing the elite of young footballers into the club at the same time as you’re also introducing a player who has been outed from the game for drug use? You would have to be sure that such player is now clean and can send the right message to others at the club.

That's effectively what Collingwood did with Stephenson when they drafted him. His gambling issues were well known, so they drip fed him just enough for day to day expenses and kept an eye on his spending habits.

He played some average footy.  Pace ok.
Not a great kick so under the Frost principle shown by Goody, wtf would we be looking at Murray.

I don't know why so many have so much difficulty "getting it".  Frost was traded because we had a surplus in his position, he was out of contract and he was worth something.  And with what we got for Frost we could spend on what we needed - Langdon.

Trading Frost wasn't us saying Frost was no good, he was traded for something valuable because he was good.  It's not hard. Have another go at understanding it.

So the hundreds of posters here are all clowns.  They reckon it was because Goody was not prepared to see Frost-ball with erratic disposal. I’ll let them know.  Anywhere BB comments on Sam Murray in your opinion.  Put up or ... (you know the rest)

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
