Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

ANB Close to Re-Signing?

He started the season poorly (and who didn’t!) but came back for the Hawks game and played well, and I was surprised he was dropped the week after.

1 or 2 year extension is hardly going to make a difference either way to the club’s fortunes.

Strikes me as the sort of player that only plays well when the side plays well, which is not an overly great attribute.

If they are going to extend his tenure then they need to play him and try him somewhere different.

I don't think he hits the scoreboard enough as a forward. His endurance is elite, perhaps he can be developed as a run with type player.

Good news. One of our hardest workers and best runners, both things that aren't our strong suit as a club. No list has 40 superstars and to keep a player who is handy depth, works hard, contributes to culture and has shown plenty of upside is a smart (even though not very sexy) move.

If you look at his 2018 stats it paints a picture of someone who can help us improve our forward 50 deficiencies once he regains some form and continuity.

Hope ANB puts pen to paper soon. Although he has had a mediocre  patch of footy he was good enough to hold his spot in 2018 after have a reasonable final series. Some just love to hate him because he plays a team role where he is a pressure forward who to maintain  the ball predominantly in the forward 50 and to stop the opposition breaking the lines. It can be a boring role. ANB is not there to excite the supporters he is there to stifle the opposition.

There might be some other roles that he would be able to play as well such as having more time in the guts  as an outside mid. He has a good tank and can certainly run all day.  IMO is still a handy acquisition and he will get better as time goes on. Is young enough to persist with.

Same people calling him to be delisted are probably the same people crying we traded out Kent & Tyson and we now have "no depth" takes a squad of 40 odd to build a club. Only 22 can play each week & ANB at his best in in that 18-25 range, he proved more than that last year. He is not alone on output this year.

Per my profile sig, i endorse his re-signing.

Solid foot soldier who is not alone in having a poor year to date. I really hope he and his team mates can turn it around.

Not just yet picket. Wait until we go on a mammoth ten game winning run and sweep all our finals this year.

I like Nibbler, like others have mentioned he does a lot of the team things and by looking at the remaining players we have out of contract at the end of this year it makes sense to me to have him sign on.

Absolutely trading Kent a bad mistake a potential game winner who was undervalued due to injury. A typically bad Melbourne decision. Had no issue with the Tyson trade and resigning ANB is nothing to celebrate. Yes he is a depth player but would not get on a top team list so assume we just accept mediocrity because we need to fill 40 spot. The problem with Melbourne is our depth players are average at best and we have way to many of them. Next we will be celebrating the resigning of Gartlett another player who will ensure we remain at the depth of the ladder. At least trading out these depth players and bringing in new blood give you some hope for the future. Resigning players you don’t rate just reenforcers that we will never aspire to be any good.

kent got offered a significant three-year deal at the aints; he'd have been a fool to sign with us by comparison

Agree but why didn’t we match it. Good club rarely let required players go.

Haha. What a classic stereotypical happy-go-lucky Melbourne supporter comment.

People love to hate him because he plays a team role? Intriguing.

He is fairly criticised when he butchers the ball, fumbles the ball and has very little to no impact at the contest. His performances this year have displayed those weakness areas and his demotions from the team are evidence.

It doesn't matter if you're as fit as Craig Motram and can run up and down the ground all day if you're constantly making errors with the ball or not impacting when near it.

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.
