Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

For mine It wasn’t that he sounded complacent. But the line “ we’ve been building to a performance like that” that what u say AFTER a big or gutsy win.  it was HALF TIME ffs . The “ performance” was one quarter... and the game wasn’t finished.

It sounds like Goodwin just expects everything to click and go our way eventually and we just streamroll teams with one way chaos-ball momentum. It's all a bit one dimensional.

The rose colored glass mob in this forum have been blindsided by this, refusing to see that last years unaddressed deficiencies would be our downfall this year. (Although we all have to this 0-3 extent)

The elephant in the room is that we should've missed the finals last year but had some fortunate circumstances go our way with Kennedy missing and GWS already cemented in the 8. We were continually destroyed by fast teams that used the wide expanses of the G all year. ALL YEAR I asked "when are we going to get a big win like in 2017?" Our big wins turned out to be False Dawns. A terrible Adelaide by 100, and WCE over there without their key pillars. The same problems last year with our defence and lacklustre forward entries, have now turned into the key reasons for our demise as other teams have worked us out. All of that papered over because wE MaDe ThE PreLiM.

We beat up on the weak teams but continually failed against the better teams. Sadly the weak teams have now improved ten fold and we've been exposed.

Hard to disagree with this.

I’m not sure where to begin but here we go...

BAD

Kolodjashnij has been awful

Omac and Frost completely laughable

Hibberd and Jetta two good players who haven’t fired a shot

ANB has been straight up [censored] this year

TMac and Weideman have given us nothing

Gawn slow out of the blocks

That 3rd quarter was diabolical after working our way back into the game. Seriously, if you get the chance, listen to Brayshaw’s half time interview.

GOOD

A few fringe players held their own in Wagner x 2 and Lockhart

Petracca was dangerous most of the game, that should be the standard

That is all

That Brayshaw interview was weird, there was a massive sense of complacency and it worried me too.

Real Concerns...

  • Roos defensive foundations of working both ways gone
  • 6,6,6 exposed us badly
  • Losing a Key forward Hogan though didn't want to stay & has own issues got in May who has come in under done & overweight questions what type of player is he
  • Viney & Jones look like they are still in preseason
  • History repeating itself of the last 55yrs of the MFC, tease your supporters into a false sense of success only to come crashing down

The Elephant in the room is the co captains.

Been saying this for a long time. The best leadership Jones can show now is to drop himself. It seems the first question asked at selection is to where can we hide him on the field. Viney is now almost a carbon copy of Trengove in his final seasons with us. Clearly he plays hobbled and currently of limited value. Both huge liabilities across the middle  with  lack of pace and diminished skills. I question whether we can be any worse without their so called leadership on the field. Only one way to tell. If the old won’t go away then the new won’t come.

Brayshaw suggesting that some players are not buying in is a direct swipe at which individuals? Sounds like we need to only play those players who are buying in, even if they are youth.

Think that was also Goodies line in the presser, so probably came from the team meeting.

Leadership Problems. It has to be that.

The players are not prepared, right at the first bounce

Jones must step aside. His time has come

Goodwin and co have to make some big calls or this season could totally implode, it’s close now.

Yep only 3 games in, but it is the way we are playing.

Hard to believe that just two weeks ago I woke with some hope in my heart. Although I did have some trepidation. That pre-season talk of how finishing fourth wouldn’t be good enough this year was rather unsettling, whiffs of the classic MFC trait of getting ahead of themselves. Maybe what they were meaning to say was that finishing fourth wasn’t good enough this year when it comes to the end of season draft, bottom four would far better. If that was what they meant, so far every post has been a ‘winner’.

Great Defensive Goody

20 goals vs Cats

Port game only looks better because they couldn't hit the barn most of the game.

We were useless defensively that day too.

You are spot on... but don't apologise for laying out for all to see... I will do an analysis of the decisions (and non-decisions) in this game to highlight how the umpires enabled the Bombers to win

Please do. And send it to the club and the afl and anyone else. It was nothing short of unprofessional.

If things dont improve this year, i expect a huge internal overhaul. Coaching staff right down to the players.

Richmond did it at the end of 2016 and it paid off.

Recruiting staff need to be questioned also. 3 first round draft picks for Lever and May is looking more and more diabolical as each game they are sidelined with injury.

I think it’s pretty unfair to have a dig at recruiting over injured players. We recruited the positions we needed, can’t really control whether they get injured or not.

I don't mind getting a top 5 draft pick this year knowing that next year we have a full pre-season, two brand new key position backs and an opportunity to change our forward setup ala Geelong this year.

We're still young and Goodwin is still stubborn but will realise he has to change. ANB, Oscar and Frost cannot play for us if we're a genuine contender.

It called due diligence Lever had known knee injuries and May soft tissue plus slow last and fat in the worse team in the AFL. Yes it could have worked but like throwing your last dollars on zero when spinning the roulette wheel. These recruiting decisions were massive fair or not this is a complete bust.

If you overpay for something that doesn’t work, it’s hard to consider it a wise decision, particularly when what you purchase has an injury predisposition cloud.

The opportunity cost on this transaction is looking pretty aweful right now.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
