Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I guess what I'm saying is logic should have ruled out Hogan as tradebait.

And I maintain that it's not a personnel issue (except the missing Lever and Hibberd), but a system error. I fear we put all our eggs in the one basket over the off season and built the system around one player (Lever). We tried to ensure everyone else in that system complimented him and so when he went down, it took us a few weeks to adjust and we've never quite recovered, especially with the injury to Hibberd, which has compounded the problem.

Our midfield needs to get better at its defensive running for longer though and our half forwards and deep forwards need to work harder for longer too, and lock the ball inside our 'territory'.

Forget going after an experienced KPB. It's not going to happen. Improve the system.

Then we are going to disagree AF I don't see us being anything better than 8/9th until we resolve our back line problems and again only my opinion we don't have the personnel that will make that happen. Of course if we had just kicked reasonably for goal we would have three more victories and the back line would not matter!!!

What would Hogan get us on the Market do you think?

I see you asked this because you think by trading Hogan we could get a defender, and you think we need a defender because we're too easy to score against.

Not only do I disagree completely with the suggestion we should trade Hogan (the first half of this season he was in AA form and if your expectations are that a 23 KPF should be at AA level every single week then your expectations are out of whack), I disagree with the notion that we need to get a defender. Our defensive problems are not down to OMac or a key defender, they are down to our team's defence.

Anyone suggesting that we trade Hogan really has no idea.

Where does it say it that comment I want to trade him?

I was just wondering what he would be worth.

Calm down he is going no where any time soon.

Geez

I know he is not going anywhere. If it wasn't on your mind why mention it at all?

I am not allowed to wonder? We need a win the humour is very low on here at present.

Never in doubt,   Gus loves the Club and you can read his face  when after a win  his interviews are of elation.  Loves his team mates and anything to do with our great club. So loyal as it shows and the faith the club has in him has bought out the best in him with playing some fantastic footy. I hope he is a Demon for life. Love you Gus.

Gus’s signature is huge for our club, although I wasn’t worried he must’ve attracted some big interest and could’ve been forgiven for holding out to get a massive deal from someone else.

Just as a side note did anyone else feel like his re-signing got very little coverage compared to Cripps? I get that Cripps is the only top player in a garbage team but Brayshaw has been huge for us his year particularly with Viney not being available for much of the year.

Thanks.  A great read and some terrific anecdotes, especially his first meeting with Jones where private school boy meets bald-headed, tattooed tough guy with the big black ute!

I really like that Gus didn't nominate playing after concussion as his 'big risk'.  His story is now so much bigger than that story.

What I also really, really like is that Goodwin is embracing some of the more 'sensitive' approaches to player performance and well being:  " In the era of mindfulness, vulnerability and story telling as coaching styles, Simon Goodwin had asked his players to reveal a moment they had taken a risk".   A page out of the Roos and more recently Hardwick play book perhaps but I'm rapt that Goodwin is shifting a little from that uber competitive, tough at all costs approach.  Both work side by side and a much more balanced style of player management.

The players must find it irresistible to visit team forums when they can see things like this posted about them

I can imagine the family and teammates having a great laugh among themselves.

Well done.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
