This is typical Melbourne Fyfe and Sandilands are injured what an easy game this is going to be. Let's rest Gawn. We know what happens when we think like this.

yeah but you have to think tactically

we have so many must wins coming up and a fit Gawn is essential. Not saying it's an easy match. In fact by playing it in the humidor we have turned a regulation win into a 60/40 game.

Hell...I hate this Darwin match

IN: Frost, Garlett, Spargo, Stretch and maybe Keilty.

OUT: Petracca, Petty, Hannan, Tyson, and maybe Lewis (all though I think 5 changes is the kiss of death)

My love for Petracca is huge, but he is really annoying me ATM, he has the strength/will, but I don't think he is doing team things, it razzle dazzle or nothing, I want him to learn to clear a path for his colleagues that have a clue about finding the ball and not playing like a millionaire, not saying he's a lost cause or anything. Garlett is juts as likely if not more so to kick the goals we have been wanting Petracca to kick. I realize this is not a reward for effort but thats Jeffy.

Petty straight swap for Frost, (maybe NQR but can run)

Tyson, the guy is a ball magnet but (and I'll admit I was slow to come to this opinion) kills it too often, that OOBOTF in last qtr killed me.

Stretch, this is his chance, has put the effort in at Casey, Tysons spot is his if he can make it and he can run better than Tyson.

Spargo swap for Hannan, who is ok in the air but Bailey does a similar job, Hannan has spent his chips.

Leave Weiderman in, I feel like he is just a moment away from kicking 5.

Lewis: needs to get right for finals, he needs a rest/management - Darwin is not going to do him any favours.

Keilty, just going on the Casey Reports.

Now I know taking Petracca and Tyson, out we are removing beasts, but stretch/spargo/garlett and frost can all run. I would prefer a fit and focused Hunt. Wagner is too turnover prone (as is VDB), Pedders seems to have slowed this year, not keen on him as a replacement.

Rawlings was speaking at the Redlegs at the St Kilda game  and said he thought Osker Baker was not yet ready to take the next step. I'm looking forward to see how he takes to the big league.

So for me Stretch(would like to see him given the opportunity of  a block of games to show his worth), Garlett(spark around the goals - do not think that he is the type of player that is going to make his mark in the 2's), Frost(big body defender and has  a bit of speed) and Spargo(just love the way this kid applies himself)

Just about right...don't see how we can seriously pick any of Petty, Hannan, Tyson and Lewis going into this week.  Petracca border line based on talent alone...is he carrying an injury? Need workers not shirkers.

We must select the best team possible and that of course includes Gawn. Then it is simple,. All we have to do is not what we have done last few games. This team needs to bring all the effort and pressure needed to win games. Unfortunately I have come to conclusion that our bottom 6-8 players and many in Casey are not quite or yet up to AFL standard. Need to take this into account. We are just not good enough at moment. We need more class across all lines, which I trust may happen in next year or so therefore, those selected must be prepared to gut run (both ways) and help their team mates at all times. Given up on trying to select changes and await Goody's and his mates team tomorrow night.

Is it too soon to see Kent coming back in? I know he has only played one game since coming back from another Hamstring, but he was looking good prior to the injury, but he might need more time in the VFL, but I wouldn't be surprised seeing him coming in for Hannan.

I'd like to see TMac settled up at FF with Hogan roaming a bit more across the forward half. I'd prefer to have Petracca sitting forward (even FF and have TMac chop out in the ruck rather than Weid as a third tall (for this week) bringing in another small like Spargo/Garlett or both.

Tyson for Stretch could be another option I guess.

I'm more concerned about the players already in the team putting in a big effort in Darwin, ... the changes to the 22 are less significant!

I'd love to have Kent back in the team, but he would surely need another week at Casey.  Taking him up to Darwin after 1 game back from a long layoff with hamstring trouble would be silly.

A strong showing this weekend in the VFL,  and in vs the Doggies would be nice.

Same. We did bring him in against North after one four goal game in a VFL practise match but I guess he did have a more solid block of training behind him then.

Kent was poor at Casey last weekend and there is no way he was even close to demanding a spot in the firsts.  He is a long way back on that performance.  Suggest he will need at least 3-4 a Casey, or show a miraculous turn around in form.

Jetta  Omac   Smith

Hibb   Frost  Vince

Harmes Oliver Fritch

Hannan Hogan  ANB

Melk   TMac  Kent/Garlett

Gawn   Jones  Viney

Spargo, Trac, Salem, Brayshaw

Weid - 3 tall forwards isn't holding up. Let Tom and Hoges be a genuine 1-2 punch. We had Tom, Hogan, Weid, Fritch, Hannan and Melksham all shoved in to the same forward line, they are all aerialists needed someone at their feet, Spargo in

Petty - Not ready, needs another 12 months+ at VFL to develop before we judge him. Frost is the only other senior option we have... We keep trying to fill Lever with inexperienced players like Smith and Petty and now people suggest keilty but maybe it is worth considering Oscar? I know long term they want him as the one on one defender with Lever floating but maybe Frost can do that this year and free up oscar to play the Lever role.

Lewis - we need one of the senior heads in the side, he either survives or Vince returns, simple as that. Even if we wanted to drop both, with Hunt injured then we have no other option. Maybe Wagner but I don't expect that to go down to well

Tyson - Good inside mid, not good enough to take the spot of viney, jones brayshaw or oliver (or salem for that matter) so he doesnt play. Fritch was great on the wing but has struggled since tyson took his role. Tyson isnt skilled enough to do it. Fritch goes back to the wing and Kent/Garlett in. Kent only had the 1 run after injury but Garlett hasnt exactly earned it... Lose, lose pick for Goody but we need to do something different

Smith, Trac, ANB & Hannan lucky, no better options available. Although Bugg could push for one of the pressure forward spots...

For what it's worth... I don't really expect this to happen but it's what I'd do, change the structures they have failed 3 weeks in a row, and they don't hold up on the G.

Of the players we have available, I really like this team selection, AW. I would like to see Kent run into form as a deep fwd crumber with a bit of his aggro thrown into fwd defensive pressure. Once again, that bench will be critical - and so it should be.

Pedo must be feeling a little harshly dealt with at the moment. was playing good consistent footy up fwd, got a chance and wasnt good.  now he is playing at the back and not really looking a chance to be promoted again.  I really don't think he is a backman.

I reckon he is worth another shot up fwd in the 1s

Unfortunately Pedo suffered a concussion (knocked out) the week before at Casey.

Goodwin stated in his presser Baker is in the mix to debut. Yes/No?

I would say no after last week's debutante. However his pace must be tempting.

On a side note, lucky for Salem he's a good kick as I'm trying to work figure what else he provides the side, particularly given that he was a top 10 draft pick. He's been coasting this year.

That is a great option Mud.  Although i'm not sure Bugg is needed as another medium small or is any better than ANB at this point in terms of what either of them contribute.  Possibly worth trialing over a few weeks though.

Stating the bleeding obvious (and already brought up for weeks) but we are lacking goal kicking crumbers / speed (pressuring opponents / finding space for the receive or on a lead) up forward through the middle of wider grounds.  As a result we are unable to shut down the switch / spread at the wider expanses like the G and put decent pressure on the opp's HBs and speedy mids.  Your Ins'/Outs go some way (at least on paper) to resolving some of the above.

The only tweak i would make to the actual line up is bringing Jones out of a starting mid field role and to the bench.  Replaced with Gus who needs to start in the middle.  Jones has lost half a yard and unable to escape congestion very often now, Gus more evasive through there.  We can no longer afford to keep playing the regular (tried / tested and failed on the wider grounds) 3 meat & potato options in Clarry, Jones & Viney at the same time through the middle.  If we do we will continually get taken apart on the outside spread on the bigger ovals.

Gus , Viney, Clarry ... Viney, Jones, Gus ... Tracc, Clarry, Viney ... even Jones / Clarry & Jeffy as a change up etc but certainly not the three potatoes as standard.

Fritschkrieg goes to the other wing NOT running off the back of square and certainly never played at FB like last week!  Stretch on the other.  We finally have some options out wide with toe and decent finish (Stretch an unknown at this point i realise).  In the case of Fristchkrieg, on both sides of the body!  He won't have the tank to last long though and will need lots of flipping to assist here (below)

Jones/Tracc rotate off the bench through the middle and off both HFFs sharing this between themselves, Melk and Brayshaw (Tracc/Jones, Brayshaw sharing the HF/Mid Field roles between them in a constant rotation when one is resting or on the bench).   Occasionally flipping Fritschkrieg to HF or FP with Tracc / Jeffy to allow Fritschy to rest / maybe impact the scoreboard and throw the opp a different (slightly taller / marking) set up.

Goody needs to adjust big time for speed / class / finish / crumbers both up forward and through mid field as well as a taller speedy general in Frost (at least trial him for 2 to 3 weeks) at CHB as per your option.  If he truly thinks last week's result was mostly as a result of effort (which it might have been to a degree) then he will only tweak a little meaning we are in for a very ugly finish to what promised to be an improvement on last year and a very good chance at playing finals.

I like this but would persevere with Weeds who is the future more so than Bugg

Other than that Petracca must perform or OUT!

I like Jones on a wing or even Half back!!

So my team is

B. Lewis OMac Jetta

HB. Hibberd Frost Salem

C. Stretch Viney Jones

HF. Melksham Tmac Fritsch

F. Garlett Hogan Weeds

Foll. Gawn Oliver Brayshaw

Int FROM Harmes Petracca J Smith Baker Spargo( depending on matchups conditions)

OUT Petty ANB Tyson Hannan J Smith

IN (SPEED) Frost Stretch Spargo Baker Garlett

I said this elsewhere, but I think he's being played out of position.  Having him across half back means the ball isn't in his hands as much as we'd like, and therefore his impact on the game is not flash.

Just look at his kick that his Fritsch lace out in the first term in amongst a plethora of players.  If used correctly his kicking could be a real weapon, but we aren't getting him in a position to use it enough.  Perhaps a move up the ground to a wing would help in this regard?

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
