What about the constant replays and coverage of Dew sitting on the bench during live play. Pathetic!

Sheeeit Thanks for setting me straight ! I thought I was watching Star Wars and Jabda the Hutt and had my channels had somehow discombobulated!

Super happy with that win and the improvement that I have seen over the year. Viney back next week and another big step forward for this group. Hopefully even demonlanders can be happy with where this is headed and enjoy the ride. Both of this site's favourite whipping boys produced pretty good performances (Harmes was virtually BOG), not sure who is going to have to make way for Viney now.

Was glad to have a convincing win instead of winning by 5 goals after coasting through the last quarter. Gold Coast were poor though so next week will be a much harder test.

Brayshaw is such a good centre square player. His ability to kick 45-50 off either foot and one step means his clearances have maximum effectiveness.

Also Bayley Fritsch had 26 possessions. Not the best on the ground by any stretch but he's already showing he's not gonna be just a low possession, high impact player. He's better that that.

Is it bad that I’m disappointed we didn’t get the inside 50s record? Like seriously why did we go backwards with a minute to go with 69 point lead?

All that aside it was really good to see us put a team to the sword and get some much needed %. It was also a bit of a announcement to the competition, if/when things click for us we can score big.

We were inaccurate and wasteful at times tonight and we still won by 69 points.

Great to see Brayshaw back up his excellent game last week with another really good performance, Salem also slotted back in really well, Lewis was a cool head and played a great game. But the standout performances for me were Clarry, Gawn, and TMac (although he had a very quiet last quarter).

Great to see us have a big win. Blues next week who might be up and about after their first win. Big chance to build something this season now.

We went backwards with a minute to go because we had a 69 point lead.

I can't recall the last time Melbourne dominated a team in the way they did tonight from start to end in every aspect other than on the scoreboard. Eventually it showed on the scoreboard as well, but it really should have been close to a 100 point belting. Hard to complain after a win , but we've still got areas we can tidy up which will hopefully make us contenders rather than being also rans like we were last year.

Went to the game and surprisingly bought good tickets.

Good to see a win by a big margin for a change.

Go dees.

Trying to think of the last time a team kicked in excess of 140. Just sayin. A momentum builder today

Round 22 last year. Tiges thumped Freo.

There have been a lot of 130s in there

Who needs Gaff when you’ve got Fritzl. Stick him anywhere and he’d do a job. Hope he doesn’t find AFL too easy and sticks around for a while.

Draw a line from wing to wing, do not let Tomald cross it. What a gun forward. Hey @DeeSpencer

Loved Harmes’ effort. I’m not comfortable when he has it, but I admire his work rate. Playing important minutes.

ANB was a lot cleaner, still nowhere near last year’s form.

Hogan’s worst game with just the lazy 3 goals.

Loved Salem’s game.

We should just kick 8 goals a quarter every quarter I reckon.

Anyone know how many possessions Tyson had in the last quarter?

When we kicked 8 goals and had full momentum? I’m guessing close to none.

That's what I was getting at.

I didn't notice him much in the last quarter.

I thought he had a bad Tyson game.

I like good Tyson.

Will be 5 in a row next week and that would be a while.

    HIGHLIGHTS/LOWLIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Melbourne traveled across the continent to take on the Fremantle Dockers in sweltering conditions at Mandurah south of Perth in a game that delivered the club both its highlight and its lowlight in the first minute.  But first, let’s start by doing away with the usual cliches used in connection with the game. It was just a practice match and the result didn’t matter. Bad kicking is bad football. The game was played in severe heat, the swirly breeze played havoc with both teams resulting in

KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Beautiful morning, not much wind, more than a couple of dozen spectators.  The players were up and about, boisterous and having fun. THE ACCIDENTAL DEMONS by The Oracle

In the space of eight days, the Melbourne Football Club’s plans for the coming year were turned upside down by two season-ending injuries to players who were contending strongly for places in its opening round match against the GWS Giants. Shane McAdam was first player to go down with injury when he ruptured an Achilles tendon at Friday afternoon training, a week before the cut-off date for the AFL’s pre-season supplemental selection period (“SSP”). McAdam was beginning to get some real mom

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the
