wow. Im shattered. Was hoping hed stay on for a few more years and be there when we pull in a flag. He's been so good for us.  A CEO the likes of which we've never had,  or not in the 45 years since Ive been following anyway. I guess it gives us time to get out [censored] together and bring in someone else who's of similar callibre. Still, Its a sad day. Much gratitude to him though for helping steer us out of the dark wood we were in.

Love him and will be sad to see him go, turned the club around all by himself basically when nobody wanted us, a club legend in my eyes.

Pretty much single-handedly saved the club, with help from Roosy. Should end up in the club's Hall of Fame.

I absolutely agree, what he has done in such a small amount of time and considering where we had been... the guy is a miracle worker.

The most important figure at the MFC that I can recall in a long, long time.

The club can’t thank this bloke enough. Has turned this club right around.

Thanks Peter

It’s hard to imagine the state that the club was in when he entered.  We were broken and bereft of any hope.

Build him a statue.

I'd love to see PJ leave with a flag to his name.  That way the revival that he has overseen would be complete.  Just reward for his outstanding work,

Anyone got any ideas of potential replacements they'd like? Perhaps someone from Geelong or Hawthorn or Sydney?

There's a poster on this site that would love the job... he's a big fan of the AFL :)

He's leaving in a similar manner to the Roos/Goody handover. He's done a simply brilliant job.

He will be sorely missed .... where is the similarity you refer to?  Has he a successor under his wing?

It could easily come from within.

Wouldnt be surprised at all if it was someone like Chippindall.

I wish he could stay, but i understand it had to come one day and sadly it has, can't thank you enough for the work you have done in helping the best club in the world to still be here and be on.

I say this from all demon supporters and members, your heart beats true for the red and the blue.

Universally admired by Dees supporters I would say. Not many people can claim that.

Thanks Peter.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
