Surely Frost in next week for Brown. Punch able head but when he gets his tail up he can do damage. No way Lever or McDonald has what it takes to go with him

You know you are in trouble when Frost is the answer.

OMac is a better defender than Frost, it's just that some people have invested so much in to bagging him that they'll never see it.

Only saw the last half of North Saints and it was diabolical but a North win may prepare us better for next week.

Let's send both North  and St Kilda to Tasmania and get the unemployed to push Tasmania further towards Antarctica. Win Win

Roos v saints

What a horrible standard of a game so far, half way through the 1st.  Crowd looks small too for the only game in Melbourne.  I wonder how long they will keep it.

one of the worst games i have ever seen.

I would back him in. He did well enough on T.Hawk last week. I don't hate Frost but I the only person who I think would be a better matchup on Brown would be TMac.

Although bringing in Frost may free up Lever to intercept which may well have been Leoncelli's point.

From Big Footy. Some of the melts are very entertaining.

The person who made the final decision to draft McCartin over Petracca needs to be sacked. No ifs. No buts. Sack him.

St Kilda reserve seat for sale. I’ll give you $50. Just take it.

I genuinely wonder why McCartin seems to cop about one hundredth of the criticism that Jack Watts got - and Watts was a considerably better player.

Coz he’s not a blonde haired Brighton Grammarian playing for the Fuchsias

Huge HUGE blunder picking McCartin over Petracca...

I know some Saints supporters who will still argue this.

The McCartin experiment is over, he’s not going to make it. St Kilda are horseshite. We need an actual plan to stop Ben Brown for next weekend.

The plan is simple, we win the midfield battle and don’t give them the opportunity to get the ball in with and space. This will allow Lever to run off his man to intercept when needed.

I didn’t watch this game (sounds like that’s a blessing I should be thankful for) but we should be beating both teams this year.

Its on our players to take the next step in ability and mentality.

I caught  the last bit of the game. Silly me thought the only game on Good Friday would be prime time.

Of course it's a graveyard shi(f)t twilight game.

Both absolutely rubbish teams. I'd like to think we don't take them lightly yet again, nor that we underestimate the tactical nous of Brad Scott yet again

Because while the saints have talked him up at times they haven’t trotted him out like some saviour and thrown him to the wolves.

Still the level of scrutiny Watts had to endure during his career with us is unparalleled.

Only saw snippets Q2 and 4.

Both were just awful, but Saints far far awfuller ?

That said, Brown is always a danger and delivery to him must be limited.

The St Kilda defender played Brown from behind which is normal for the punch/spoil etc. The problem is that Brown has a good vertical leap and a wide enough body to keep the defender behind him.

Needs to be played perhaps from the side and preferably as a 2 on 1.

Easily said but can we do it.

Lose to Norf next week and I along with others will go into melt down. They simply are not that good !

Anyone on this site stupid enough to say now that we will beat both these Teams easily this year.....hmm.

From another disgruntled Saints supporter on Big Footy (couldn't resist):

I felt like beating off w/ 80 grit sandpaper after watching that shitte. Richo needs to take a long hard look at himself in the mirror this week.

The Saints have been absolutely awful, and it's down to the fact that North are the masters at bringing teams down to their level.  They flood back, pick the ball off and go.  It's nothing more than that.  They put on some pressure but, seriously, they are a nothing side and when they are treated as such they can easily make you play some horrid footy.  Today is a prime example.

We will need to play smart footy next week to ensure we beat them.  Bombing it long to a contest won't work.

I'm not sure the Saints are being brought down 'Wise'...I don't think they're much good in the first place.

    HIGHLIGHTS/LOWLIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Melbourne traveled across the continent to take on the Fremantle Dockers in sweltering conditions at Mandurah south of Perth in a game that delivered the club both its highlight and its lowlight in the first minute.  But first, let’s start by doing away with the usual cliches used in connection with the game. It was just a practice match and the result didn’t matter. Bad kicking is bad football. The game was played in severe heat, the swirly breeze played havoc with both teams resulting in

THE ACCIDENTAL DEMONS by The Oracle

In the space of eight days, the Melbourne Football Club’s plans for the coming year were turned upside down by two season-ending injuries to players who were contending strongly for places in its opening round match against the GWS Giants. Shane McAdam was first player to go down with injury when he ruptured an Achilles tendon at Friday afternoon training, a week before the cut-off date for the AFL’s pre-season supplemental selection period (“SSP”). McAdam was beginning to get some real mom
