Geelong is the last remaining Home Ground advantage in Victoria. It is the same teams that get scheduled to play there. The bigger clubs get to play Geelong at the MCG which has become a neutral ground.

Poor fixturing in a compromised competition.

I appreciate your point, but one of the AFL's responsibilities is to ensure that as many people as possible can get to see AFL games live. Geelong hosting the more popular clubs at home is likely to result in people wishing to attend being unable to do so. The solution for us, of course, is to become one of those "power" clubs with attendances too big for Kardinia Park. Or, be good enough to beat Geelong anywhere. Or both.

Kardinia Park has a capacity of 34,000 persons. It effectively precludes any substantial attendance by opposing supporters.

This will only get worse as it increasingly becomes a reserved seat stadium.

Not sure why MFC supporters should continue to be the ones who are effectively locked out.

The AFL have all but confirmed we will once again play Richmond on ANZAC Eve. Given the game falls on a Tuesday night, it will be interesting to see what days we play on the rounds before and after.

The only way forward for the MFC is to improve  its bargaining power.

That means being a successful club on and off the field. 

Win games, double our membership and impact TV ratings.

Otherwise, we will continue to be treated as the poor cousins.

Posted this in another thread, but my main wish is that we get a lot less 6 day breaks and an even time to recover as what our opponents do. Given we were a younger team I think with a more even draw we would have been better placed to recover. You can see how we fared against the draw for the top 8 teams and clearly we got a poor draw, so I'm hopeful PJ will be addressing this and getting us the same advantages as other teams have.

Will be interesting to see how Bulldogs fare with prime TV games. If as I suspect they drop down the media scene it underscores how hard it is to break into the big league.

By contrast Richmond will come from a reasonable Friday night base to a much larger number.

Have to start somewhere but from a sponsorship basis maintaining any continued presence in high profile game will be challenging.

If we have a ten year goal it is to take Hawthorn's spot in the media spotlight. That will be a challenge given that Hawthorn have been relatively successful for 30 years.

Because of the Commonwealth games the GCS home games for a lot of the 2018 season are to be played at the Gabba and in Townsville.

The MFCSS in me suggests that we will get a trip to Townsville to add to our two NT games.

 I see the China experiment is continuing.

Undoubtedly, and when making the fixture I can see that when they do the 3-1-1 splits that they should always make sure the 2 WA, NSW, Qld and SA teams have double headers. Rather than just purely base it on ladder positions.
