Who else gasped when Gus got hit early. I thought that was it. We'll  done medicos and the slow cautious approach

Still a rookie? Wouldn't we need a player to go down on LT injury list for him to debut anyway?

I'm pretty sure there's a few boys on the LTI list that haven't been covered, clubs can always find a way around it anyway

Mitch Hannan - great clutch goals, young man....well done!

He has pulled so many of those out of hats this season. Well done

Was Salem actually reported ?  I dont believe so.

Not sure.  Do they have a MRP?  Maybe CFC docs will just report him anyway.

Harmes may be coming of age. Had my doubts but all his AFL attributes were on show today. Yet to turn 22.

Pedo tends to get the boot after one average game. He deserves greater leniency because the average games are few and far between. If we do make finals, I want him in the side.

Gus was the story of the day. He's gonna be a star. Nothing surer.

Too true

And score a couple of goals.Watts's will return. Weid not strong enough.

Disagree, Goodwin has proven consistently that effort goes rewarded and repeated game of laziness gets you time in the VFL. Jack will stay in VFL until he does what the coaches askes him to do, as per early in the year when the coach wouldn't play him because he wasn't doing what was asked of him.

Petracca may miss out next week for Maynard in my opinion

Spot on deever!

Pedo has about 10% of Watt's ability

Watt's has about 10% of Pedo's  determination/heart.

Your man Jones did the job for us today.

Gus a huge star to come back.

Pedo his best game ever.

Harmes and Anb were on fire the first half.

Hopefully jeffy will kick a bag soon.

1 premiership in 154 years for the Saints. That's an average of 1 flag every...........154 years. St Kilda's future post Riewoldt and Montagna doesn't look too flash.

StK have not won a game without Montagna and Reiwoldt since 2005...may the hoodoo long continue.

They will struggle badly next year.  No A grade players on any line.  Will happily play them twice again in 2018 and 2019 and ...!

Hannan... 5 kicks... 4 hand balls One tackle

As I said the two goals in the last saved his game

Weid and Wagner were woeful

Very harsh on Weideman IMO. He played his role and competed pretty well. Also showed a physical side I hadn't seen from him so I hope they persevere. He'll be better for the games and will be playing against players more his size against Brisbane. Watts didn't do enough yesterday to warrant a promotion next week.

Max was strangely umpired out of the ruck contests. After conceding 3 frees in a row at the centre, he looked unwilling to contest the next tap out. Never seen anything like that before.

On ABC radio after the game he said he let Longer win the tap outs. I don't think he was joking.

The whole members wing gasped in horror. I felt a wave of vomit coming up but when he got himself up again it was such relief.

In a way that hit was good for him.

Unbelievable first quarter and so many of our players made a clear statement of their worth for finals - assuming we don't get too cocky in the next two weeks.

Harmes has now insured his spot and Hannan's two sealers showed he is up to this level and his family can now book finals tickets.

Brayshaw made an incredible return as a defender - he takes Salem's spot now and will play finals.

Pedo had a game that makes him a shoo-in for the finals as well, while Melky again showed he has got it as a midfilder/high forward who runs and runs all day.

Only three players under the pump now - Weids, Wags and Jeffy. The rest, barring injury, will play in our first final since 2006.

I like the idea of blooding Declan before the finals.

We haven't been shy in trying out our rookie list.... Has to be a chance.

Again, Goodwin has sent a VEEERRRRYYY clear message the lack of effort and shying away from the hard ball will see you play in the VFL.

we make up the loss by selling them cold over priced pies and chips

Out- Weiderman.

In- Anyone that can get out of a lope.

Does this Vermont Softc@#k realise he is a key forward? Seriously.. Didn't not lead up to the wing once.. waiting back in marking contests.. played behind his man.. This kid would want to start showing something or he can join Hullet in the scrap heap.. While we watch Curnow dominate the next 5-10 years..

Agree with this.

Copped a hit to the mellon and got up. He now knows for sure that he doesnt have to worry about going hard at every contest.

It was a small forward game plan today, his role was to do exactly what you have said he did. Wait back in the marking contest and bring the ball to ground.

Did you watch the game?  Applied some really valuable tackles and pressure acts.  Made a contest, followed team rules.  Think he did OK.

I watched Curnow last night. He is going to be a superstar. If it wasn't for that drink driving thing we would have selected him. Not sure what attributes Weid brings apart from his courage in the air.

Anyone  else see Oliver absolutely giving it to Gawn in the 3Q?

As they were walking back to the centre circle after a St Kilda goal Clayton was shoving Max in the chest and shouting at him.

Anyone see the incident that brought that on?

Was straight after a saints goal which came as a result of Longer winning the hitout and the saints winning the clearnace. Not sure why that hit out of all of them fired Oliver up

The kid tries.Needs to add 3 or 4 kilos for next year. Shame that watts didnt light up in the vfl. Will be interesting to see. Gawn and pedo rotating full fwd isnt too bad and or tmac.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
