Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

What should T Bugg do in his 6 weeks off other than the bleeding obvious?

Okay.  Forget the (media) hysteria.  I just watched a segment on that show The Footy Show (F*k I've actually worked as a camera operator on the show, sadly.  But it paid a bill).
However, where does it stop in aligning what Buggy did (in one incident) to this great cause to stamp out the punch?  yet use Buggy as an example?  Of course no one wants to have the 'punch' as a part of the modern / developing game.  But give it a rest by using peeps and draining every ounce of blood out of those who made a mistake (just to wheel a barrow). POQ

So... what if anything (other than train hard) does Buggy need or should do in his six weeks to respond?

I suggest...

a) Get a crew cut! (clean up the mop top).  I know it sounds corny.  But a short hair cut invokes an image of seriousness at the same time sincere drive (Goody and the military). Blah
b) Spend some dedicated hours (aside from training protocols) with the coaches.  On all lines.  Plus in the coaches box match day.  And so he can take up greater understandings of the game.  And what real team (fighting for each other) really means - to another level.  Which is not to say Buggy is not remorseful for his actions or incapable of understanding the meaning of consequence(s).

Any ideas?  Or am I deluded by wine and this cold weather?

Treat this as a preseason.  Go back to basics and build his fitness and skills.

be the best damned clubman and earn the respect of his teammates

Show remorse

Stay out of the media

Goal kicking practice

Work out how he gets to be best 22, and work his arse off to become that.

Volunteer at a hospital.  He can have a really good look at what happens when you clobber someone like that.  Plus he'd look great in the pink dress.

I agree with this. And he should do it without any PR or cameras in tow and without him mentioning it on his social media. Alternatively, or as well, he could spend some time visiting or working with something like the James McReady Bryan Foundation where he might understand the potential consequences of a single punch to the head. Professional footballers get paid for allowing other people to watch what they do. He needs to understand that people watch everything they do and some fools replicate what they see on the field.

Totally agree with the suggestion that Bugg spends some time volunteering in a hospital or similar.

Also six weeks spent stacking shelves or performing manual labour, followed by training at night with a local club, might provide him with a reality check.

I'd keep him away from the club for at least the first three weeks of his suspension.

.... Stay as close to Viney and Jones as he can (without it being wierd) and watch and learn!
I actually think 6 weeks has ended his season, and given that I don't think he is part of the best 22, he has some genuine concerns about 2018 and beyond. Not because of what he did, but where he sits in the pecking order with a healthy list.

I think Bugg had established himself well in our 22 and played some good games and roles, so while I'd love to believe we wont have another injury or setback to any other players this year, the reality is we're most likely to.

Given that, I suspect Bugg will be back and will give us a good option late in the season/finals.

I just re read the thread title and am confused.

"What should Buggy do in his 6 weeks off? Other than the bleeding obvious he needs to train & regain hard."

Not quite sure what you are referring to there.   A bit like Broooooce in the absence of Cyyyrrillll?

No intention or ref meant.  Regain hard =  regain (respect) by earnestly earnt hard work

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
