Can't even discuss the actual game yet, only how the win felt.

I was at the ground. I brought a ticket through Ticketmaster and some how ended up sitting in an Eagles reserved seating section. I literally could not see another Melbourne supporter. I was by myself. I cheered everything we did and got stared at, people whispered about me, one woman asked her husband if they could move away. I wasn't badly behaved. I was just passionate.

Because those Eagles supporters they don't understand - I fell in love with this footy club in 1987. I was sitting with my old man on the half forward flank when Jimmy ran over the mark and Buckenara kicked the goal in the Prelim. I've sat through horrible horrible performances - multiple 100 point floggings at the G (just 4 years ago). I'd do it all again for that win, and the effort and energy we showed to drag ourselves over the line in that last quarter.

When Tommy Mac kicked the last goal I went bananas. And then when the siren went I went absolutely ballistic. You know those sad people at sporting events going nuts who you think 'calm down mate, maybe you need more going on in your life'? - that was me!

Im pretty sure I looked like the slow mo of Stevie J when he kicked the sealer a couple of weeks back - but in real time.

It was ugly. I don't care. That was an absolute delight.

I love this footy club, and I love that I at least have a place on the internet to share something like this with people who get it.

Go The Dees. I believe.

Define bananas.

Been in back of my nuts Canberra all week for work...missus stitched me up with a "dinner" tonight with some randoms, so couldn't see or hear any of the game, except the odd phone score update during a wee break...

Ended up with 43 text messages during and after the game, came home to rip into the gas and watch the replay at it didn't bloody tape on Foxtel!!

Amazing win but the world can GOGF'd!!

Tomorrows replay it is!

Might need a new missus...

I've watched the Viney/Hurn incident a number of times and I'm afraid he might cop a week or 2. His eyes were on the ball but I think the fact that he jumped and got air and then hit Hurn's head hard with his hip will cost him. Don't think a pirouette will save him this time.

His eyes being on the ball should be what gets him off. If not for Hurn touching the ball Viney takes possession of it. Viney didn't raise an elbow nor did he go past the ball to initiate contact.

I get that but they also don't like the jumping and making contact with the head. Might come down to the medical report from the Eagles and they might be [censored] at the result.

Players can get kneed in the head when someone flys for a speccy. Viney was playing the ball, yes he left the ground but he didn't tuck an elbow in when doing so. If he gets a week/s for this the club should fight it.

I couldnt watch it ....could listen on the radio. On the replay Viney clearly playing the ball and eyes firmly on it so hopefully he'll be ok. But he may miss with his shoulder anyway.

At half time the idiot WA commentators were both sayng Oliver should get suspended for faking re the hit he took. Saying the league needed to crack down on players falling over for frees. Unbelievable. Why would you "fake" for a free AFTER the half time siren...then lie on the ground holding your chin. hmmmmm, crazy thought I know,  but maybe he got hit??? Then with 5 minutes to go they started gloating..remembering the way the world was in 2002 (the last tie we beat them there) Each trying to out do each other. Sooooooo satisfying to shut them up it really was.

Would it have made any difference if it was a marking contest?

I disagree but who knows really.

Was that you behind the goals in the Eagles area when TMac kicked the last goal. Someone there was jumping up and down fist pumping like a champion. With sad faces all around him. Loved it!

Who was the guy behind the goals when TMac kicks the winner? He goes nuts and I loved it.

Looks like it was 'The heart beats true'.  Going by these posts he sure lived up to his name!

He is a brave man to weather the Weagles supporters.  He did all of us proud.

On a side note - Goodwin's reaction on the siren was also priceless - especially for a guy who oozes calm regardless of circumstances!

Watched it again just now as didn't think much of it at the time. Jack was running at the ball with the sole aim to take possession (eyes squarely for the ball, reasonable attempt etc), WC player running with flight of ball with sole aim to take possession, both jump in attempt to take possession, crash into each other, one comes off second best. Nothing to see here.

I want to hear that. The 6PR commentators are the worst going around, even worse than they're 5AA counterparts in Adelaide.

After the game Darcy and Richo interviewed Oliver and asked if the hit connected or if it did, did it hurt.  It sounded like they were trying to bait him into saying it was nothing, effectively that he was staging.  (This was after their in game commentary where they said there was nothing in it).

I thought it was unfair to put a 19 year old under that scrutiny on national tv.  To his credit Oliver said he wasn't expecting it so it knocked him over and yes, the doctors did check him out at half time.  Well done, Oliver!

I was just having a look at the West Coast thread on BigFooty, Their posters are admitting that we are a good side unlike other supporters from teams that we have played in the last few weeks. We are starting to be taken seriously.

Loved last night game.

Other than Viney and TMac it was an all round team performance. Harmes, Bugg and ANB's gut running is under appreciated on this site. All 3 help provide the manic pressure that we are becoming famous for.

We are now a team that plays 4 quarters.

We are now a team that is competitive.

We are now a team that wants to WN.

I haven't felt this happy or proud about our club in a very long time.

Keep it up boys.

Exactly as I see it, last week Shuey runs past the ball , takes out Dangerfield with a high hit , escapes with a fine because it was classed as unintentional ie he didn't intend to hit him high. This was incidental contact in a contest for the ball

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t

    TURNAROUND by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons won their first game at home this year in the traditional King’s Birthday Weekend clash with Collingwood VFL on Sunday in a dramatic turnaround on recent form that breathed new life into the beleaguered club’s season. The Demons led from the start to record a 52-point victory. It was their highest score and biggest winning margin by far for the 2024 season. Under cloudy but calm conditions for Casey Fields, the home side, wearing the old Springvale guernsey as a mark of res

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an
