I'm into it, Buggy is a master of psychological warfare. What he does is a lot more calculated and beneficial to the team than the kneejerk dopes in the media recognize.

Must admit when I first saw it without context it looked a bit OTT. Although Watts's odd "stareyface" look made me wonder if it was a joke rather than a threat.
But it certainly sucked in JJ's teammates. They would have done better to have just ignored it, but they turned it into a massive distraction, and it had a far greater effect than it should have.
By the way, in the lead up play to the "double goal", Wood dropped an unopposed mark, and Bugg then tapped it on to the player running past which resulted in the goal. He had every right to give it to Wood after it, and Wood's reaction was ridiculous.

The above linked article provides post match comments and thoughts from Bugg, Watts, Goodwin and Rawlings.

Comments from Goodwin and Rawlings are interesting. They don't necessarily understand or condone it but they are not concerned by it.

We'll know what their real attitude is by whether Bugg does it again or not.

I don't think it's needed. He's an annoying little Bugger on the field as it is. Where it counts. Doesn't need any extra "up your nose" material.

It open the gates just a crack for US-style "trash talking" which is a blight on sport. No thanks.

while on social media stuff. Absolutely loved the live feed from Watts and co in the rooms after the Pies game. All of it shows how tight the playing group is right now. they acting like a proper footy club and playing for their mates. its how footy should be.... Enjoyable

Was what we see in the opening post all we are talking about? There's nothing more?

How on earth can anyone interpret anything negative, positive or problematic from that? Surely we've reached peak nothingness with this story.

Biggest/only issue I have with it all was the photo was mirrored. Sponsor logos flipped - we need to look after our sponsors!

If the doggies were really that distracted by this post, then they should take a good hard look at themselves.

Bugg has a lot of Ballentyne about him. A player who the opposition supporter loved to hate but Freo love him and I always wanted a player like him in our team. Bugg is turning into that player.

Yes i saw that. Can't imagine that happening whilst Schwab was around!

The way the doggies got into Bugg at the start of the game, can't help wondering if they were aware Bugg & JJ were mates!  Were they sucked in?  Funny if they were!

I think their reaction to it went a long way to them losing the game.

When I saw Easton Wood carry on before the bounce the way he did, I sensed we were in for a big day. A simple 'good one, d###head' in Buggy's direction would have sufficed but he wanted to start WW3.

I am loving this new edge to be honest. Some on here denounce the 'line in the sand' game, Leigh Matthews, Dipper and Hawthorn's 'thuggery' but part of their mystique is that they often had their opposition beaten before they stepped out on the field. Opposition players mentally disintegrated under the sledging, scragging, and hits dished out by those Hawk players. Dipper openly admitted that they would actively tell the opposition that they would 'get' them. He also has 5 premiership medals at home too.

Pure and simple, it's a tiny drop in the ocean compared to the NFL social media wars between players of opposiing clubs.

All three are mates. It's basically a good bit of fun. If you're 60+ and stuck in your ways, it'll make you a little nervous... but in reality it's just a bit of modern sportspeople/celebrity sneaking into our game from the USA. You can be fair square against it... But it's here to stay.

You only need to read the comments to that second one to see why he's doing it. That last one says literally nothing and look at the saltiness of all the comments. He's just winding everyone up for a laugh.

Whatever Bugg did, it certainly got under Easton-Wood's skin. That will have to be the worst game I've seen him play.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
