What did you think of Tommy Bugg's Instagram story directed at JJ?

Not overly concerned as long as he backs it up and he did but in saying that u don't want to give the opp any amo either.

There was never anything in it.  Bugg even confirmed after the game that they are mates off the field and it was just a bit of banter.

Nothing to be concerned about.

If we got done, Bugg would have copped a huge whack online and by the media. He would have deserved it too, but thankfully he can enjoy the win and a one up on JJ!

You may be right Luther.  But some of the reactions from people on here were right over the top when it occurred.

Loved it. He talks the talk, but he backs it up too!
He also drew a lot of attention from the Doggies players for it. From before the bounce they were getting stuck into him. Their captain Wood also couldn't handle his harassment and handed us a free goal!
IMO he gets under the oppositions skin and sucks up their aggression and attention. This means they all target him and our other players fly under the radar. Gone are the days where they will come running out and target Jack Watts. Instead they'll target Buggy and Watts will run around free from the niggle. Buggy is tough enough to handle it too.

I really think he is the perfect 22nd man for us. Sure he's missed a lot of shots at goal the past month, but I'm pretty happy with any player who is getting 4-5 shots at goal a week. He plays his role perfectly, whether it's a marking target, crumber or tagger type. Hope he stays in the team as we play better with him there.

Get stuck into 'em Buggy.

The post game Burgoview with Watts gave a good insight into how Bugg operates and interestingly how he has rubbed off on Jack himself. Watch it if you haven't already.

I'm surprised they got a "talking to" about it. I think in this day and age if you don't embrace it you're gonna be the odd one out.

It's already been confirmed by the players it was a bit of a laugh cos they are mates.

The media buys into it because they need something "edgy" to talk about and that's about it.*

* Although I reckon Goody might say to the boys stop the silly stuff so I don't have to answer dumb arse questions in the post game :)

Nothing in this pic other than some friendly banter between mates.

If we had a Nic Riewoldt and Sam Gilbert dickpic situation on our hands then I would be a tad concerned with the use of social media at the club.

I feel like he took a big gamble posting that, if we (or he) put in a stinker then he would be taken to the cleaners by all and sundry this week. Disrespectful, getting ahead of ourselves etc etc. But the gamble paid off and Buggy himself sucked them in so good on him. Play on.

We've been arguably the most pathetic club for 50 years, so my natural reaction is to rail against any cockiness.

How about we actually achieve something first.

It's called paying your dues.

But yes, I recognise it's trivial and certainly a non-event.

Goodwin will ensure it doesn't happen again, so it's hard to argue it's a good thing.

Most likely harmless, but kinda like it.

Gets some media lackeys all excited... Precious darlings.

Bit of playful antler rucking.

All good fun imho

Win a premiership, hell win a final, then get cocky.

It's a non issue coz they're friends and there was nothing in it, but it's unnecessary.

Let the scoreboard do the talking!

Bugg seems like the type who thrives on the banter and the challenge presented fron talking the talk; it helps him focus.  A bit like Steve Waugh if you understand my manning.

I dont mind as long as he keeps playing as well as he has.

Also i like to see the players personalities.  I want to love our  guys and hate theirs.

Bugg typifies what we have not been for decades. Cheeky, confident, in your face aggressiveness. A serial pest. We have despised clubs like Essendon and Hawthorn for this reason. But they were successful and won flags. I love Bugg for this reason. He is so un-Melbourne. We have a new breed of young players that play to win whatever it takes. Bugg typifies that attitude. I don't care if it may sometimes backfire. Individuals and teams that take risks win games when it counts. We have often been risk adverse. Not any more. Take them on and give them hell.

Jack said in the post-game on-ground interview that Bugg's confidence rubs off on those around him. Tick of approval. And love that he's sold an unknowing Watts into it. Jack looked genuinely keen on the tussle today and had career-high tackle-stats till half-time.

No problem with it. If wasn't disrespectful to JJ. I follow the NFL and you listen to them say they are better than their opponent etc and they go out to prove it. Bugg did similar to Adams last week.

You have my vote Ernest. I have waited decades to be hated like Hawthorn.

THE ACCIDENTAL DEMONS by The Oracle

In the space of eight days, the Melbourne Football Club’s plans for the coming year were turned upside down by two season-ending injuries to players who were contending strongly for places in its opening round match against the GWS Giants. Shane McAdam was first player to go down with injury when he ruptured an Achilles tendon at Friday afternoon training, a week before the cut-off date for the AFL’s pre-season supplemental selection period (“SSP”). McAdam was beginning to get some real mom

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the
