I had high hopes for Kennedy.  But as you say, his tank is tiny and his disposal is questionable at best.  He's behind many players at the moment.

I agree but I'm not really sold on Neal-Bullen or Harmes either, I think Kennedy needs to get a game to prove his worth though as opposed to playing VFL every week. Although I understand he should be playing really well to get a call up, but reading about how he's going it doesn't really seem as though he can do much more

This doesn't concern me too much this year, as I think we've proven that we have the capacity to run out games very well.  I think we are very fit and, if we come to play, then we can knock the Dogs off without too many worries.

The turning up to play from the opening minute is just the stumbling block at the minute.

We came off the bye on Monday so I don't think it will be a factor this week.

The next 2 will be a bit tougher though...particularly flying to Perth and back.

Have said it in other threads but yea I don't get this mindset. Off a bye, played 1 game with a 6 day break. Fine we may have sore/injuries/better players available but should be no issue this week. Next 2 weeks it starts to wear a bit but again full time players, full time fitness staff. I don't recall Hawks, Swans, Cats resting star players, bottom 6 or mid tier players but otherwise best  players at coal face.

Haven't seen selection so may be proven wrong.

Give me Ben Ken anyday over ANB and even Harmes

On 0 exposed form this season for BK, ridiculous statement as per usual. ANB has been a good solider after a slow start to season. Harmes has been in and out but until BK can get a run in the 1s no idea how you make a call like that.

Would be great to have Pedo up forward for at least half a game with Spencer in. A big solid forward was a glaring absence against pies.

ANB has improved dramatically so should remain.

Salem will get a game again.

If the spotlights on anyone.... its Jordan Lewis this weekend.

Given the upcoming 6 day breaks and the breakneck speed of QB game... Must have been tempting to roll some changes through. Wagner and JKH particularly.

Watts got his hip jab and pre game ankle.

Not sold on Harmes? Did you watch the last two games with a blindfold?

Thought Vince was worse. He cost us at least two goals.

Two games out of how many? I think he's okay sometimes and don't get me wrong he has his good moments, I'm just not a fan of his decision making and disposal a lot of the time

We've just come off a 16 day break after the bye, won't be a factor

There is no doubt they will be fresher. We won't be stuffed, i dont think anyone is suggesting that but they'll be fresh as a daisy.....fresher.

There's an uncomplicated reality here.

We had come off a long break last week bb. Swings and round abouts for me. Good teams win in spite of these disadvantages. With Spenser in we have a 50/50 chance IMO.

Old im not noting it as a precursor to an excuse.

Im just stating what is.

Given we've yet to play 4 qtrs of footy i think it is relevant however.

I expect "No Change" because if Spencer comes in OMac goes out and he's named in the 18.

I expect Spencer to play in Perth next week and Max to resume against Sydney back here.

Very underwhelming inclusions, so I expect to keep the same 22. Weideman is not ready, Kennedy is C-grade and Spencer's lack of athleticism would be exposed by the Bulldogs.

Having seen him at training last week, I would have preferred Max to play this week, have next week off if necessary, and play against Sydney the following week.

This will be a tough game, but I will be bitterly disappointed if we give up yet another big lead in the first half. I'm pretty sure we have been well behind in six consecutive games - that is not sustainable.

Agree 55

If they didn't play Spence against the Pies with Grundy they are unlikely to play him on the fastest track in the league against a running side like the Bulldogs.

After watching the replay I'm thinking Melksham will drop back to Casey – noticed he turned it over a few times with very poor disposal. Checked the stats and they don't lie:
Disposals: 10
Disposal Efficiency: 40%

He did the job on Pendlebury and did very well, but if there's no role for him then I suspect he'll be the first one out

So they'll be as fresh as a daisy fresher --- does that make them fresher than a daisy cutter?

I'd say no change. if spencer was in form he would come in but we would be weighing up whether an out of touch Spencer would add more than the current set up.  unfortunately for Speno I dont think he does.

For the trip to Perth next week id expect 3-4 changes to freshen up some runners

Thanks to WCE win Bulldogs are now out of the 8.  Lose vs Demons and they will stay out of the 8 with only 6 wins and a % of =/< 100.

To make the 8 they will then need to win 6/7 of the last 10.  They play North, WCE, Adel, Carl, GCS, Ess, BL, GWS, PA, Hawth. Only a couple of gimmes there.  It helps that 6 of those are at Etihad.

Expect two very desperate teams.  Huge game for both: We win and we are a game and % ahead of 8th and 9th.  Bulldogs win and they get a game clear.

The classic 8 point game!

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last

    LIFE SUPPORT by Whispering Jack

With Melbourne’s season hanging on a thread, Saturday night’s game against North Melbourne unfolded like a scene in a hospital emergency department.  The patient presented to the ward in a bad way. Doctors and nurses pumped life-saving medication into his body and, in the ensuing half hour, he responded with blood returning to his cheeks as he stirred back to life. After a slight relapse, the nurses pumped further medication into the bloodstream and the prognosis started looking good as the

It's Game Day and it very well could be the last roll of the dice for the Demon's finals aspirations in 2024. A loss to the bottom side would be another embarrassing moment in a cursed year for the Dees whilst a win could be the spark they need to reignite the fire in the belly.

    THE HUNTER by The Oracle

Something struck me as I sat on the couch watching the tragedy of North Melbourne’s attempt to beat Collingwood unfold on Sunday afternoon at the MCG.    It was three quarter time, the scoreboard had the Pies on 12.7.79, a respectable 63.16% in terms of goal kicking ratio. Meanwhile, the Roos’ 18.2.110 was off the charts at 90.00% shooting accuracy. I was thinking at the same time of Melbourne’s final score only six days before, a woeful 6.15.51 or 28.57% against Collingwood’s 14.5.89

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t
