I'm just too emotionally invested in this club that games like this absolutely suck every ounce of happiness out of me.

This ridiculousness of handballing to teammates when they are in no position to receive it just has to stop. It cost us the game today - particularly in that first qtr.

Just gut wrenching. Another opportunity lost.

It's far too soon to be posting anything rational so I know this will be the opposite, but whatever:

I can't help but feel our season is slipping through our fingers.

Season done, that's a shame thought I'd get to view some finals but that's over.

Rubbish.

As I have said all year, this will be the most even season in living memory.

It's not a great position to be in but far from over.

Why do we get no luck at all, when St Kilda are blessed with luck every single week?

We are cursed.

Adelaide in Adelaide next week. Inevitably we will be 3-5 and pushing [censored] up hill to try and gain ground on the 8.

Geez that stings!

Can't expect to win many games when we bring the intensity we did in the first quarter.

We are a 3/4 team at the minute.

I think the Kennedy Harris and bugg careers at the mfc might be just about over.

Seriously even jack Trengove with his speed issues would offer far more than either of those two

Another wasted year, another year with no finals.

Seriously over this club. We have not learn't a thing from last year and continue to just drop close games.

Pretenders is all we are.

Just so frustrated. All the momentum killed off by horrible decision making, a dangerous addiction to unnecessary handball, and being annihilated in the air.

I usually leave my first review of the seaeon until round 8 but that loss has got under my skin.

I agree with many others that JKH and Hannan are not AFL standard. We must leave behind a reliance on fill-in VFL standard players. That era must end now.

I don't understand OMac. 1st half he cost us goals, 2nd half almost saved the game. I don't understand Frost - all the dare and dash in the world but his kicking is ..... I don't know how to describe it.

Oliver - you are a gun but you are allowed to kick.

Viney - very well done.

Handballing to a stationary target remains a deeply entrenched problem. It emerged late in the Daniher era and we haave never shaken it off. Today was the worst it has been for a while.

St. Kilda are winning these games, we continue to lose them.

I hate being a Melbourne supporter.

Can't see us competing for the 8 now. You've got to be able to win games where you're expected to get the job done.

I like our competitiveness but we just have zero leaders when we need them. Recruiting them hasn't really helped - which I suspect is the reason Viney was made co-captain. We need that next generation to come on as leaders and they just haven't at the start of the season. They will, but it's frustrating to watch.

Big mental challenge for the group coming up. Could go either way. I hope some leaders emerge.

Were were not good enough today; simple as that really.  Our 1st half was a disgrace and you cant win at this level playing one good qtr.

Sick of these bastards. I hate the fact that we need to wait for their good players to retire before we will get the best of them.

When the line ups appeared on the screen before the game started I thought that we would be in trouble.

Fkn Burgoyne and Roughead put on a clinc.

Also sick of game day thread d!ckheads writing us off early. Go [censored] off and support a [censored] bandwagon club like Richmond, you will find like minded souls there.

Another one we "should" have won

What was with the [censored] farting around at the end? Get it in there ffs

Yeah Lewis took a while to kick, + farting around with it could have been in the 50 with a lot more time instead we enter with 10 seconds on the clock!

Before I gain my composure, Dom Tyson is a plumb average player.

THE ACCIDENTAL DEMONS by The Oracle

In the space of eight days, the Melbourne Football Club’s plans for the coming year were turned upside down by two season-ending injuries to players who were contending strongly for places in its opening round match against the GWS Giants. Shane McAdam was first player to go down with injury when he ruptured an Achilles tendon at Friday afternoon training, a week before the cut-off date for the AFL’s pre-season supplemental selection period (“SSP”). McAdam was beginning to get some real mom

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the
