6 - Salem (was great when we needed him to be)

5 - Oliver (terrific again especially in the 1st & last quarters)

4 - T-Mac (solid all day and set up a lot of attacks)

3 - Jetta (was very good all day)

2 - Garlett (3 goals and was a danger to their defence throughout)

1 - Jones (lifted when required)

Others who could have featured include Tyson (prolific) ,  Harmes (hard at it),  Hunt (used his pace well),  Stretch & Watts were also good at times.

It's also interesting to note the players who could have ordinarily been expected to receive votes ... Gawn,  Lewis,  Hogan,  Viney,  Petracca & Brayshaw.  Gawn actually played quite well but we're now expecting him to dominate.

6 Salem (Wow what a first half and kept tackling and hitting targets by foot all day).

5 Jones (reliable, kicked goals and broke lines with his kicking)

4 T-Mac (I know the zone means he didn't have Weitering all the time, but when he did, it was man v boy)

3 Garlett (I bet he loved fixing up his old side - Will Docherty ever recover?)

2 Watts (Timid early but once he got into the ruck his confidence grew and he is still the best kick in the side)

1 Jetta (How about the bump on Kreuzer. He was brill all day with his attack on the ball)

Sorry Clayton but you were a cancer early going backwards almost every time you got it and when it comes to the key stat you lost 10-5 in clearances to Cripps. Don't worry i still rate you as the most likely superstar in our side, but you have legs, you can kick and you can go forward some times and take responsibility for setting up our offence.

A few put in some fantastic last quarter efferots to drag us over the line, but these were the best across the game IMO.

In line with something I posted in the Oliver thread, it is ridiculously over the top to describe Oliver's game as a cancer. Reckon we'd have been better off without his 35 disposals and 9 tackles do you?

6. Salem - clearly BoG

5. Jones - very clean with the ball

4. Oliver - clearance king

3. Tyson - got better as the game went on

2. Garlett - lots of important moments

1. Watts - kicked a couple and set up a handful

6. Salem

4. Oliver

3. Tyson (would have been higher but for too many errant disposals, particularly early)

2. T McDonald

1. Garlett

If Watts' second and third quarters were like his first or last he would have been high up in the votes.

I realise that everyone has opinions but leaving Jetta out of the best six is ridiculous.

Not really. I never do votes until I have a chance to watch the replay so I might change my mind, but at the game I felt Jetta was good, but I didnt have him in the best. (my best are actually very close to @demon9). Just because he plays his role doesnt mean he gets a spot in the best every week, seems some just add him in because everyone loves him. His value to the team is undeniable! but it's not a crime to have him out of the best doesn't automaticly mean we think he is the worst. Really I think Oscar played his role just as well as jetts did, I dont see a single vote for him. People seem to look for the best in Jetta and the worst in Oscar.
(For the record I wouldn't have Oscar in the best, but I dont think he was worse than Jetta)

Agree on Jetta. Due to our larger midfield brigade getting back, Jetta is getting a lot of uncontested possessions and intercept marks as he doesn't have to stay strictly on his man. This gives the appearance that he's having a blinder where he's actually more just like a loose man in defense. Still a good consistent player and definitely in the top 8 players for us yesterday.

    TRAINING: Wednesday 19th February 2025

Demonlander The Analyser was the sole Trackwatcher out at Casey Fields today to bring you the following observations from this mornings preseason training session. Training  was at Casey today. It consisted of a match simulation for one half  and then a free choice activity time. Activities included kicking for goal,  aerial , contest work etc. I noticed the following players not in match simulation Jack Viney  running laps and looks fine for round one . I think Kolt looks like he’s im

    TRAINING: Wednesday 12th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the scorching morning heat to bring you the following observations of Wednesday's preseason training session from Gosch's Paddock. HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

Demonland Trackwatchers were out in force as the Demons returned to Gosch's Paddock for preseason training on Wednesday morning. GHOSTWRITER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Kozzie a no show. Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. There’s a drill where Selwyn literally lies on top of Tracc, a trainer dribbles the ball towards them and Tracc has to g

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
