Sorry Saty, whats a craft day?

The players make things to sell on family day...little baskets made from icy-pole sticks, doilies, oranges stuck with cloves to throw in the sock drawer, macrame wristlets etc.  I just hope there are no repetitive strain injuries...if there are, heads should roll!

I heard on the radio that a number of Indigenous players in the AFL are attending a workshop in Broome.

Don't a agree with theses special workshops,  should be training with teammates everone is equal,  they are now behind the 8ball, a few years back there was a big negative story about Neeld talking to the bothers as a group, and not one on one like he had meeting with the non bothers,  are these workshops really needed all people have to be treated the same no more special treatment

It wasn't until the mods deleted the post it was obviously referencing.

There will always be bullying,  why do poster have a go at saty, that's because they have preceptions on certain players and if they read a different perception on said player, they think they are right about a player and everyone else is talking s@@t.

Yep, clubs like whoreforn go from the minor party in a proposed merger to league superpower, and we have a Lamington drive.

Awesome.

I don't understand how Pedersen could drop 10 kilos. Does that mean he was not fully fit previously? Which then raises the question of why? Conversely, if he was fit, why was he physically developed to be 10 kgs heavier?

You are aware that Pedo had major shoulder reco at the end of last season that may have prevented him from doing considerable amounts of running, upper body weights, contact work, swimming, boxing, etc?

Might go some way towards explaining his recent drop in weight as he gets fully back into the swing of training.

Pedo arrived at the club overweight.

Gillies straight from the pub.

Rodan hobbling.

Neeld delusional.

Things are on the up.

He was also a strong built guy and a shoulder reco means no heavy weights for a long time so you drop muscle mass very quickly. Losing 10kg is fine, but probably half of that would be mass he didn't want to lose and would be rehabbing to put back on for strength.

It was a bit lackluster in my book.

Either they are: still acclimatizing / still hungover from Australia Day / have already been thrashed over the last 2 days. Take your pick? I'm expecting Saturday's session to be the one to be at to get a better reflection of how things are tracking.

* Slightly different vibe about training from the past 3 years. Couldn't put a finger on what it was. Perhaps the best way to describe it is it was a little more chilled out. Not sure if that is good or bad but it was noticeable.

I see what you mean. Sometimes in this video from the session the players look like they are in slow motion.

You're right, we look like we are almost at a standstill at times.

On a more serious note, they look like they are doing it hard in the warmer weather and humidity, the last player, think it was Bernie, looked spent.

In Wattsys video interview with Burgo he notes how hard they trained on their first afternoon at camp - much to the players surprise. So given that - and the heat and humidity - it's probably no surprise they were a bit down on energy on the yesterday

I was surprised by the Burgo comment, Pedo at start of pre season told me they wanted him around the size he was which was a tick under 100kg, he had toned a bit but obviously a change of plan, think the days of him rucking are over, we seem to want mobile guys up forward

I was thinking the opposite actually.  Thought with him dropping a couple of kegs, and building his tank, it might make him a very appealing 2nd ruck option.  He's always good for a contest, so if he can make more ruck contests because of an increase in fitness, then it has to help keep Watts forward.

Agreed. A lean Ruckman can go all day if needed

I must admit, I had interpreted the 10kg loss as being deliberate rather than a consequence of the surgery. Either way, 10kg is a lot to lose.

It was shoulder surgery, not lap band!!!

I was thinking they would have him drop a few to be a little more in the Weiderman mold so that they can be interchangeable in the role. Allows the club to give Weid rests throughout the year without big changes to the forward stucture. (At least going on the assumption that Weid plays most weeks) For all I liked our improvements last year i didnt like that the forwardline structured up so differently each depending on who happened to be playing. All the best teams the players change but the structure stays the same. A lighter more mobile Pedo means he can play any of the Tall forward roles.

ith the sudden depth to chose from when it comes to tall forwards I wouldnt think Pedo makes the 22 so they would want him to fill in for whoever is missing. Last year he was only really Hogan's direct replacement and Hogan played almost every week meaning when pedo was in we essentially had 2 CHF in the one side. We saw what a perfect fill in for hogan he was when we played the hawks

normally people on rehab, not doing the weights etc plus being on end of season break put on weight. if he has lost significant weight it is more likely due to intentional change of diet and probably at the fd's direction

* Just realized none of the indigenous boys were there. Maybe training with the Boomerangs or something? Just guessing.

I would have thought more sport specific stuff would be better for these boys.

MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
