This kid could be really something. Looking at the list and the kids coming on, there is not only going to be competition for spots, there are also going to be some very disappointed footballers.

I think that's the biggest thing we've got to look forward to next year, the fact that there are very few players we'll be disappointed to see out there. 5-6 years ago I reckon there were 15 blokes on the list who'd frustrate the hell out of you and you'd be annoyed to see them picked on the weekend, now there are barely any. Credit to all involved in the footy department.

Arrived a little early... Rehab group already out on the paddock, with Don Tyson joining the regulars. Tyson, Hibberd, Big Mac and Melksham kicking in pairs on the lead with Crossie overseeing them. Viney on straight sprints, Vanders on fast laps, King mixing it up. The whole group arrived with Watts looking like a former Brisbane Brownlow medalist!

What does a former Brisbane Brownlow medalist look like??

Hold on I just saw it! He reminds me of .....  Not Aker... um...... I got it a younger Warney!!

If Smith can be half as good as Jeremy Howe, I think we've got a player on our hands.

Half as good as Howe? Yuck.

Very apt. Most people you know think that you're crazy!

Maynard doesn't look too bad for a B class rookie, if that makes sense, I expected his kicking to be all over the place but it's quite good, and he is like a sponge asking questions all the time, when he is not in the drill, he watches intently

It shouldn't surprise that a guy who's been handling a footy most of his life would be a good kick.

The mystery is when guys get to AFL level and they can't kick with one foot, let alone both feet.

He went and played basketball Ted, hasn't played footy since junior days, I was talking to him about how we could field quite a good hoops team if they could persuade Max or Pencil to play centre, and Goodwin would allow it, not a bad starting five Gawn, Maynard, Petracca, Watts and Frost

So did Jordan Lewis turn up or does he get another week or two off because he played a couple of finals for that shitty club he used to play for?

Will be there Monday, think only Garlett, Garland, Lumumba, Pedersen, Lewis and Trengove have not shown up to now, and Bugg made a couple of guest appearances, asked Macca about this today, whether players had to stay away, said return date was 'official' but they didn't have to stick to it

No it's not just show them the photo of Jack Watts, although personally I liked the look, but that says more about me

More topic, been first two weeks, standouts have been Hogan and Brayshaw, although everybody seems to have returned in top shape, Watts being a prime example, turned up today looking sharp, can see why McKenna was grabbed, Smith looks to have listened and even being a B class rookie doesn't stop you playing in the AFL team, the competition for places is going to be fierce.

Spoke to Dom Tyson, he is looking forward to the challenge of earning your place and keeping it, so are others I have spoken to

They had Max Rooke supervising the tackling drill

... and you don't think Joel Smith is good enough to get into the starting five?

Righto

Thought Tom Bugg had the most punchable head title sewn up after Dunnny's exit.

Looks like Jack has him covered.

They just stuff around, or forgot their own, or they are being remade, McKenna was in 44 for a couple of days, now in 40

Oliver was feeling crook, spoke to him, didn't sound the best, there have been a couple of them with a bug

Will put a bit more later today or tomorrow

Watts is determined to keep the hair

Isn't it obvious he is copying Shane Woewodin and trying to win a Brownlow by attracting the attention of the umps.....

Just remembered on a note about Mitch King, knee recovery progressing well, had him doing half a dozen set shots from 40 out on 45 degree angle, all through the goal post high

How do you see him progressing, when compared to Max King after his first year at the club?

Gotta hand it to Wattsy. Changes his hair colour and it ends up as an article in the Hun and Patrick Dangerfield tweeting about it.

The bleach blonde looks seems to be coming back into vogue for some reason. A few of the EPL players are doing it. It looks absurd to me but if he's playing well then he can wear a purple wig with silver highlights for all I care.

These reports on Brayshaw have me excited. His highlights package when we drafted him remains the best I've seen. Talent to burn. Can't wait to see what he can produce next year.

That is a significantly bigger Joel Smith.

Wow!!

Thought his Casey Prelim was fantastic. He really showed something. Continued improvement could see him make it. Our next Hunt, though a bit different.

Looks older than his years.

And taller than his height, not to mention stronger than his strength, as well as as quicker than his pace.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
