Shannon Noll just called, he's a little upset that the Prince stole his song...

On a serious note, wish I could be paid well, be 'fit to work' but allowed paid time off, and then quit and ask for another years salary.

Hope when the door hits his ass on the way out, it doesn't try and sue the house

...and "Moving Pictures" are probably not that upset that Shannon gave their song a reprise.

On a serious note, I wasn't too happy with us picking up 'H' at the time. More from a football sense.

It's a pity we did & even more so that it seems to have ended this way. What ever way that is.

I wouldn't be taking the media stories as gospel though. Many have pointed to inconsistencies and landed them on his doorstep.

Could it be the media have some of their facts wrong? Never...

MFC staff give him the all clear to return, yet he believed he wasn't ready so he didn't play. Now, he is claiming he blocked him from games because of the trigger clause? What?

The situation about him parting ways with his manager also speaks volume about his relationship with others. I don't know him personally, but if I had to make a judgement call it would seem like he is a sociopath of the highest order. Just tarnishes his reputation whomever he makes contact with.

They got Howell and we got Dawes, Harry and Kennedy.

I think they are well in front.

Some wild speculation on my part here, but what if by the time the MFC said he was ready, he knew he would be unable to break into the 22 because of Hunt?

Much easier to reconcile 'ongoing concussion issues' with 'not good enough any more' with his giant ego.

bb I think it has been obvious for months his brain was somewhere else. As I said Clark all over again.

All that is left now is to work out the separation which I suggest is going to be a lot harder than Clark.

At least Clark was in touch with the real world. The prince is another matter!

Was an interesting interview with Ralphy (so take from it what you will) on SEN this morning, who seemed to have been in discussion with someone at the club - basically said because of the previous players we've had with concussion, Ro Bail, Gus, Viney etc. that we are leaders in the industry in managing it. Also that the club think they have an extremely strong legal position if it came down to it.

Said the likely outcome is a negotiated payout, but if pushed the club thinks we might be able to get H off the books completely for 2017 (salary cap wise). He'll stay on the list and essentially be like Melks last year.

Wonder if it might mean we get a more experienced rookie than we previously planned, even though H wasn't best 22 (consensus opinion) he has still played the equal second most games of anyone on our list so his experience would have been of some value.

I like this, and not just due to the strong legal position it puts us in. That the club is an industry leader in this particular issue is something to really be proud of

So with H and Dawes gone we should have ~$1 Million Cap space.

Nice to free up room for Fyfe next year!

I am a cynic, much of what is reported in the papers contains factual errors.

In the Age, "H" is not quoted. Mahoney is quoted. Where do they get the details? Who said Lumumba has a problem and would probably sue? He has no manager and no claims are made about talking to him. The quotes attributed to Mahoney talk of the clubs care and that Lumumba was consulting further specialists prior to returning to training.(summation not quote).

I think the media can smell a story and are joining a lot of dots. They may be right, just like Trump has no chance of being elected, oh wait.

We did bring in Lewis, so I'd say all the Dawes money has gone. Bringing in Hibberd would have taken Grimes money (which would have been a fair bit because he was captain when he signed) so the H money will probably just help retain our young guns. Not a bad thing, I was worried thinking about how we would afford all of Viney, Hoges, Gus, Tracc, Hunt, Salem, Weid etc.. going forward

Well,

  • He's parted ways with his manager.
  • MFC have approached the AFLPA so resolve "something"
  • He hasn't been seen at training for who knows how long
  • Nobody saw him get any sort of head knock
  • He's not near the best 22
  • He has a performance based contract
  • He's always been "different"

There is clearly some sort of serious issue.  I'd be very surprised if the core of the report was wrong. The idea that concussion is the (only) issue is naive.  Sadly I think he has a mental health issue.  The dots were very easy to join together a long time ago but many here refused to accept that.

Edit:

And if the story isn't correct then the club would deny it very quickly.  If we haven't seen something by lunchtime you can take it to the bank.

MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
