Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Scott Thompson - Would we welcome him back?

Just thought I would pass on a bit of banter that I heard over here in Adelaide on the 5aa sports show this afternoon... Regular segment on a Monday arvo where old man Cornesy joins Mark Bickley and Stephen Rowe and have a p155 and moan about how much Victoria hates SA footy and how both local teams went on the weekend.... blah....blah....blah...

But at the end of the show Cornesy was saying that Simon Goodwin has apparently made contact with his old mate Scott Thompson and asked him if he'd be keen for a 1 year playing contract for 2017 with a view to moving into a coaching position in 2018.... Has apparently been offered a low ball 1 year deal to stay a fruit loop

We lost the bloke for the best years of his career obviously but wondering what peoples thoughts are on the possibility of a reunion... Cornes did go on to say that his family is settled in Adelaide but all three blokes agreed that it would be a fantastic career move and a win for Melbourne ...

The fact that we let him go in the first place and the player he became will always hurt....

The bloke has a fantastic football brain and as D9 said, his training habits are elite...

I would definitely entertain the idea myself!

Ranked 7th in tackles in the AFL and 15th in clearances. Not a bad option. Free agent so "free" well it would be swapping him for Grimes as we'd get nothing for Grimes if we get him.

Should never have let him go in the first place.

True but it was family issues that caused him to want/need to leave for Adelaide. Little we could do about that.

34 next year, can only play inside mid so it'd be a no from me. I'd prefer seeing brayshaw, Oliver, tracca etc get more time on the ball.

Great player though and would happily have him as coach

Would take him every day of the week. Clearly his brother is okay...

Thompson and Harvey would significantly improve our gaping leadership chasm.

I wouldn't be against this move.

No harm in having a Cross type role player with such a young list.

It would all come.down to ability to get a deal done but it's a yes on face value from me

Have to pass. We need to get games into all these kids we have so we can build a future core.

A team with a win now premiership window like Hawthorn,  Geelong would be best for a one year rental.

Scarily AF, both have been suggested. I'd be more keen on Thompson if his form this season was as good as last but it wasn't. And and his age I can't him regaining form for next season.

People said that about Steve Johnson too.

Not sure we had much choice but none the less a huge loss. A gun and i reckon one of the most underated players in my considerable time of watching footy.

I would love him to come home

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n
