26 disposals to Gibbs at half time. Who the [censored] is on Gibbs? What the hell are you doing coaches, get a hard tag on now!

Can't tell if that's sarcasm or not, but do you really think Wiederman is a better option right now that Cam Pedersen?

I haven't wanted to question the selections this year, as while you get some wrong, you often get it right.  We've seen that in the second half of the year.

However, Michie and Neal-Bullen have been invisible and Weideman can't get near it.  Right at the end of the half Michie did a little, dinky kick that went straight to a Carlton player and it was horrible to watch.  All 3 haven't given us a 'boost' of energy so far and it is hurting us.

Neal-Bullen and Michie doing very little to excite me at the moment.

I do not see why they have both been brought in!!

Game over, I reckon. We just haven't looked like it. Even when we've had momentum. This performance is comparable to the Essendon one. I thought another one of these was coming.

Pretty tough to blame Weideman for that. The kick went way over his head.

Super frustrating game. Got on top in that quarter but just couldn't score. We're still right in it, but fair to say the first half has been disappointing.

It really didn't. He stood exactly where he was and realised only too late that he wasn't in the right spot. He still would have marked it if he'd jumped at the right time.

The Melbourne football club continue to manage to find new ways to destroy the morale of their supporter base

Replacing Garlett with ANB and Michie was yet another terrible selection decision.  Kennedy should have come in.

Neal-Bullen 3 disposals. A bit different at this level.

Viney 8 ... though he has laid 5 tackles.

Just not working today. A step too far after rising to the occasion the last 3 matches?

Rancid decision making by mature players. Kicking into the man on the mark. Handballing to a stationary target who is in a worse position. Handballing so high 3 Carlton players can swoop and tackle at the same time. Slipping over. Rushing.

Is Mark Neeld still coaching?

Horrible, horrible, horrible.

Team selection again baffling.

For one Pedersen ahead of Weiderman would help. Weids will be good but he isn't ready and we need to win right now!

Michie is useless. Soooo slow. I guess we expected rain. He can take Bugg and go back to the VFL.

Viney, Jones and Gawn having shockers. How can we win like that?

No change to my previously stated view: harsh to blame him for a kick that went over his head.

I just hope Carlton want someone at pick 4 and get their tank on.

We are playing with 21 players as Weideman physically can't compete (that last goal wasn't his fault though, the kick was too high). And of the 21, Michie is a total liability, whilst ANB cannot convert his VFL form to the AFL in any way.

Looks and feels like every other game we play as favourites or against bad sides. No intensity, look slow, players taking the quick or easy options and not playing the way we do when we are underdogs.

no point crying over who is or is not in the side. We have 22 players out there that need to come out in the second half with a far different attitude. we are in this till as its only 3 goals and we have been playing crap football. we can and should still win this.

Gibbs 26 touches at half time.

Great coaching letting him run free,  we are only playing for a finals spot after all.

Let's see what the coaches can do with them at half time!

We are fuckking pathetic. Those efforts are so soft, could one of these so called players actually play football instead of playing with each other and trying to get 30 disposals by handballing to each other.

Yes, the umps are pathetic but we are getting smashed in clearances and hard ball gets. Over use of the ball with under12's skills.

Getting out coached so badly. So so badly.

Leadership non existent.

Trying to do fancy things instead of playing hard football.

Typical melbourne. Even if we win, this is pathetic.

Anyone in the coaches box? Gibbs and Cripps running rings around us! And we have made every silly unforced error you can think of but we are still in it.

I'm only saying this because I'm annoyed at the moment, but I hate the third man up rule.  I really do.  What's the point of having a ruckman when anyone can run up and have a go at it?

It's ridiculous.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
