Am intrigued by Freo showing this bloke the door just as it seems he is getting himself right, seems like that they have nursed him through three knee reconstructions and then showing him the door.

He is a player with an X-factor and if he could stay fit would walk into most teams (based on potential as it is all we have to go off after just 3 games in 6 years).

To me, he is a high risk, high reward option and one I would definitely not be upset if the club was to use a 4th or 5th round pick to get or better yet rookie or delisted free agent.

That's his problem, isn't it? On his past history, the poor bloke couldn't walk into any club - he spends most of his time on crutches.

Surely not...

The kid was a high-return prospect when he came into the league in 2009.
Now that he has lost all that time to injury and actually has very little exposed form or onfield experience, that return is looking considerably lower.

I can understand Freo doing this - 3 games in 6 years of footy tells the story. I can't see him moving interstate either given his history. If he went down again and was away from Family it would be really hard to deal with.

Let's hope he can get over all of his injury woes and find some good form at another WAFL club other than Peel. Who knows, he might find his way back on to an AFL list eventually.

Worth a rookie spot.

Former No. 4 pick and Rising Star nominee in 2010. Turns 25 in October.

Maybe a 'change of scenery' = 'change of luck'?

Wow. This has to be one of the saddest football stories in the last decade. This kid was a machine at peel thunder and was in #1 talks with scully trenners dusty martin.

I hope he gets a gig, but I don't think it is the dees who can afford to take the punt with our list ready to make the next step.

Nah, think it's all over, he's just too much of a rsk and beside that of he's got any currency West Coast will probably pick him up.

History of injuries, moving interstate, lots of cost and risk involved.

Sadly it would seem his body's just wrecked.  After so much surgery and time out of the game, he keeps re-injuring himself.

Very sad, but a reality of professional sport.

Has he been shown the door? Is that official? Can't see it anywhere online....

And would we want him? No. 3 recos? nup. What's the point?

Posted

Absolutely not.

If we're looking to re-rookie an injured player, I would much rather that player be Trengove.

Officially delisted the other day.

Still wouldn't be against a rookie lifeline,  The games he has played in the WAFL have been reasonably promising.

Doubt it will happen though,

Just not worth giving him a spot, especially considering what our recruiting team has been unable to earth through rookie selections recently. Use the selection on another project player, preferably a ruckman.

I know that clubs get it wrong from time to time, but surely Freo wouldn't be letting him go now if his WAFL games showed more than an inkling that he could get back to AFL level.

Not only that, but at the end of the season he did his calf quite badly from what I can gather.  His body is shot, which is a shame as he was a very talented footballer.

No point in even considering him now.

Apparently was barely able to get a touch at Peel in the last couple of games. Very unfortunate.

If he can rebuild confidence in his body have a solid season in the WAFL to prove he's not a spent force, clubs might show interest. As it stands he's way too much of a risk.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
