Don't worry, it's going to happen again with Weeds so no need to dig through the archives.

I'm concerned about Weeds too. Is he Lucas Cook no. 2? He doesn't seem to be starring yet. Rather average performances in VFL lately.

Rubbish.  A couple of weeks ago he was tracking around the same as Hogan at Casey. He was running second back then in the goal kicking for the entire Comp. He's a special talent. Knows how to attack packs and take marks at the highest point. Also has a beautiful kicking style. Once he's put on enough weight he will be a star.

Key forward, with underdeveloped body, tires as season goes on.  Everyone panic!

Michie with 1 lousy tackle again.

You're killin me Viv.

Yeap. Forget the 10 marks (all contested according to the VFL stats and the most for either team) forget the 92% DE, forget the inside 50 count (every week) and forget that the stats I posted are not the actual VFL stats which says he had 3 tackles. Hate to have a squad of these type of slackers.

Firstly, calm down.

Secondly, that's good. His low tackle count has been a trend. I'm a Viv fan and want him putting his best case forward each week.

10 contested marks!!! He would be the next coming of Wayne Carey if that were true.

I am calm. Just find it annoying especially as I know you are a good supporter of Viv from your past comments. I really rate him but think he gets very shabby treatment from the club when it supposed to be all about performance. His 3 games were not bad and in my opinion warranted games yet he seems to be held to higher standards. I also know I am biased and focus on his performance more than others. Ah well its only a game.

I am quoting the Official VFL stats. I don't know what I am talking about, Just re-read them It was 10 marks 2 contested. Don't know what the definition of a contested mark is but in my book at least 6 or 7 were taken in a contest.  But it was only VFL level.

Weed?  Hulett? Can posters saying "he" maybe put the guy's name.  Sometimes hard to trawl back through two or three replies.

Gold Coast's Tom Lynch is the best contested mark in the game and he's presently averaging 2.8 per game.  He's leading the competition.

No way on God's earth did Michie take 10.  Even at VFL level.  It's a mistake.

Lay off Weideman. He played very little under 18 last year and this year the club wants to build him up with at least 7 kgs. Has not played a lot of footy the last 2 years missing most of last year. He is rated highly and possibly will be the best of the under 21's, source, Brendan McCartney. He is tall mobile and athletic, a 1 grab mark who kicks straight. Unlike other era's where we need instant champions now we are not looking for the Messiah but someone we build and develop into a key forward for the next decade.

Note Talia didn't play his first game until midway into his second season for 9 games and took a while to develop. Riewoldt debuted in 2001 and didn't have his break out season until his 3rd season, 2004. Jono Brown  was an unspectacular but consistent contributor during his first few seasons, at 195 cm and 105 kg, (Weed is 196 cm and 91 kg so he has a way to go) he debuted in Rd 5 2000. Plagued by injury and regular meetings with the AFL Tribunal during the next three seasons, Brown's development was hampered until 2004, when he had his best season to date, averaging an impressive 8 marks, 16 disposals and 2.3 goals per game. he just happened to play in 4 consecutive grand finals from 2001 to 2004 (source Wikipedia).

The fact that we can be patient with Weeds shows how far we've come. We no longer need the top 10 draft picks to slot straight in and make an impact. Plenty of time for Weeds, let's just let him develop.

Problem was that one of them always seemed to be out with an injury which meant that we didn't get to see them all that often as a forward combination.

Added to that was the fact that we weren't strong in the rucks and roving divisions so our delivery into the forward line was generally poor.

These guys could otherwise have been sensations had we had more depth around the ground on those days.

Wow, key forward takes 24 marks and kicks 1-0, the other key forward grabs 13 marks and we kick 10 goals all up.

Wonder how many went out on the full with those two shank experts in action.

When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to
