After reading Buckleys post match pressed, I'd say Roos gave Bernie 5 and Max 4. Buckley basically pointed to their failed double teaming Maxy in the ruck as the key reason they didn't win

Petracca did a few magical things yesterday that had me bloody excited about what sort of player he could become.

That instinctive quick inside out spin and goal and the bicycle kick off the ground while on his back to Gawn for another goal were really fast thinking.

He is more than just a contested beast

Both getting rave reviews at Blues and Hawks respectively.

Not entirely sure about the rave reviews about Green.  He lost the gig at Carlton when Bolton arrived.  North picked him up.

There were many exciting things about yesterday's win:

Petracca

Hogan

Oscar

Wagner

Van den Berg becoming match fit

Dawes!!!!!

Kent

Frost

That's on top of Gawn, Jones, Viney, Vince, Tom,.

And, there's Lumumba, Salem, Brayshaw and Garlett to come...

Yes indeed, expecting a big 2nd half of the season for Vanders.

wtf was Tim Watson banging on about during the first goal, Hogan's intelligent tap on, so clever... He didn't tap anything on.

He must have raided Jobe's PED cabinet before the game

And then there was BT's comment when Collingwood kicked the first goal of the last quarter, I can feel something special going on here, when the lead is under 30 points anything can happen, well it did, we kicked a few more goals and won easily.

Didn't get to see the game live but here are my thoughts on it after watching the replay. Trying not to repeat what has already been said in the thread already-

Tmac was brilliant. If we are going to rag on him for his bad games we have to give credit for his good ones. Strength of opposition wasn't great but played with confidence and kicked well.

Hogan really attacked the contest, one of his most aggressive games yet. Smashed some contests that led directly to goals on top of the 3 he kicked.

Jones, Vince, Tyson all played very well. Tyson has returned to previous form and possibly (probably) is better than 2014.

How good was that Jack Watts fly for the dropped mark that led to a goal? He never did that before this year.

Gawn was a monster, nothing we didn't already know.

Jetta wasn't his best but everyone is allowed to have off games.

Hunt is much tougher than I first anticipated, really attacks contests with speed.

Good win but we handballed way too much. Our pressure on the ball carrier was good though and we kept at it. I'm loving VDB back in the team. Didn't do a heap but he pursues the ball and the man with the ball relentlessly. You never see him in a jog when a player is in the vicinity. Really want to see him build to a strong second half of the year. More important than everything, you can see the bond between players now. They enjoy playing with each other.

There is no commentator worse than Brian Taylor he is a shocker.

I refuse to listen to him now, simply switch to another station or turn off the sound.

yes! I looked at the replay again and again - what was he on about? And this morning on SEN he waffled on with no idea what he was talking about. Nonce.

Meant to mention this earlier.

How good was it to go a match by old protagonists at the G on QB Monday and have both teams in their correct jumpers?

On top of that ( where I was anyway )there were no fights, no Swearing in front of kids.

You sit with the opposition  supporters with   good nature banter and just to top it off not a face mask or flare in sight.

And how good was it to watch a game where both teams just play the ball and don't drop their knees or lead with the head looking for cheap frees?

The guy still defends his club despite not knowing what it injected into his son.

Which is, on the face of it, un[censored]believable.... unless you privately did know exactly what the club had given your son... hmmmm

Totally agree OD. I am always delighted when we turn out in our traditional strip. In my view there is no case for us to play in the alternate strip when there is no clash of jumpers. I venture to suggest though that since QB is traditionally a home game, if it were the reverse, I bet we would have gone with the white strip: one of the few things I admire about Eddie is he does stand up for Collingwood tradition. The QB sight of both teams in the traditional strip is entirely driven by Eddie's refusal to wear the alternative strip. In that, he is dead right. It is about time we stood up for our equally strong traditions.

Not aware if already mentioned ( mea culpa if so )

Was extremely impressed with Wattsy's mark in the last. Running straight out of the square but had 2 Maggies running right at him. Took guts to try...and he clunked it. Top effort.

He's come a long way

Totally agree BB. JW epitomises the overall improvement of the team, and that mark puts the doubts about Watts to do with his intensity and hardness well and truly to bed.

On the subject of Jack Watts, has anyone else noticed the dislike of him, bordering on contempt, of many opposition supporters, particularly the Carlton mob. It is truly disgusting. I suspect it may have a bit to do with their unsuccessful attempt to sign him during his last contract negotiations, but some of the comments I have heard from them are totally over the top.

He also kicked 3 or 4 against them a few years ago if my memory serves me correctly. It was one of his few bags of goals against a team. Or did I dream this? I certainly know what you mean about Carlton though.

Of those last four, I think now only Brayshaw and Salem are certainties when fully fit. Where are they going to fit in? I would say Brayshaw for Stretch and Salem for Wagner, although if if Jetta puts in too many more games like QB, could also be in the firing line when Salem returns. I'd also like to see Salem move further up the ground and on the ball, where I think he plays his best football, and is extremely dangerous around goal

Also David Neitz at the Hawks. Would be a great mentor for Hoges, Weideman and Huelett next year IMHO.

So I'm in Europe right now, I listened to much of the game, but obviously seeing is different to listening. I saw the highlights and I gotta say that goal from Petracca is a window into what he can and will be able to do with ease as he gains more experience.

Such class, reminded me of Judd at his best.

Garlett's best 22, he had a shocker v the Hawks and BenKen was able to step in. It's what happens when Casey has a great season, we start to develop depth.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
