Is it me or is it that finals type feeling waking up this morning?

The huge build up, knowing theres a chance to have 70k at the ground and also the fact that both sides are just about 50/50 going into this game.

Well, this IS our grand final remember... isn't that what Eddie told us?

Collingwood will beat us if they're on song and our defenders and mids push up too regularly and don't run both ways. They out-played us in the 2nd and 3rd in round 3 or 4 so we know they are capable, granted we had a lead and could defend it but still. We actually have to bring our best game to win this if they bring theirs.

Pretty confident about today. With Collingwood's injuries, just can't see them kicking enough goals. Hogan, Watts, Gawn and Viney to all have impactful games. Watts on Howe will be a good matchup if that transpires on the day. Dee's to win by 40pts plus.

The best clearance team in the AFL vs the worst. They still spread a tad better than us and work their bums off (as the Pies always do) to protect their mates and pressure/intercept. The Pies are ranked 6th in one percenters and we are last.

If we cover their outlets and work our bums off as much or more than them in general play with tackle pressure and one percenters (blocking/shepards/spoils/chop outs), transition off HB cleanly and put some half decent forward pressure on we should win by 6 to 8 goals.

We are set up to win and win well but as we know much of these matches are played above the shoulders. Let's hope we bring an intense A game across the park. Fingers crossed

Up n about with my one year old girls. I've put on their little hand knitted red and blue scarves and we're playing 'bash the magpie' with one of their toys. It's actually a butcher bird, but whatever.

A tender hearted father Jacko. You are leading by example. Keep up the good work!!

Big chance Howe could be a late out.

Yep, looks all but certain.  With his current form that will be a big out for the Pies, as much as I hate to type that.

I don't know what to make of today's game.  Pies are under strength but their midfield is still terrific and, as others have pointed out, they worked their bums off all day, something we don't do as often as we should.

I still think we should win, though, as I think regaining Viney will give us that extra edge in the clinches.

i am confident of a comfortable win though - Go Dees!!!!!!!

I say this with some trepidation, but how long are you in Beijing for? If you're here next weekend it would be interesting to catch up at Paddy O'Shea's and watch the game against the Swans. Anybody else in Beijing?

The Pies haven't a lot up front, undermanned down back and only have some effect through the guts.

Picture  if you will a bunch of headless black/white  chooks running around .

Time to cook ourselves some bird !!

Was up at Main Beach for the weekend. My husband wanted to stay there another day which would be the first time in 20 years we would have missed a QB match but I insisted and we came home last night. He thinks Collingwood are going to get thrashed. I hope he is right.

Collingwood by 27.

Dees fans to say "stick a fork in us"

MFC player to state to media " we are really disappointed that we didnt come to play"

Roos to state "Look, we didnt get blown away like we used to"

Anyone at all from mfc to state "we get to bounce back next week and we will be preparing for their best"

Guess what im trying to say is that some of our habits are totally predictable. This is a game that we SHOULD win comfortably, but supporters will probably be split 50/50 as the trust in our team simply isnt there yet after so many false dawns.

Time to do the job Dees.

Signed

Glass half empty.

Would be absolutely gutted. No way on earth should we lose against the pies today.

Pies by 30.

Hide all your credit cards Rev. And clense yourself this week in anticipation. Alcohol and Uncle Bitter are an explosive combination.

I remember a Herald Sun headline after a QB clash many, many years ago.  Melbourne had defeated the 'colliwobbles' (as they were known back then) and the header the next day read "From Magpies to Feather Dusters".  I'd like to see that header repeated tomorrow please.

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t

    TURNAROUND by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons won their first game at home this year in the traditional King’s Birthday Weekend clash with Collingwood VFL on Sunday in a dramatic turnaround on recent form that breathed new life into the beleaguered club’s season. It's Game Day and the Demons are once again faced with a classic 8 point game against a traditional rival on King's Birthday at the MCG. A famous victory will see them reclaim a place in the Top 8 whereas a loss will be another blow for their finals credentials.

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an
